Benzotiyofen@Pd as an efficient and stable catalyst for the electrocatalytic oxidation of hydrazine

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK

An efficient methods for the synthesis of 2-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)-3-iodobenzo[b]thiophene (4) is described, and investigated its anode catalyst performance by using electrochemical methods (CV, CA and EIS). When 2-(2,5dimethylphenyl)-3-iodobenzo[b]thiophene (4) is applied, the specific activity is found as 25.811 mA/cm(2). Interestingly, when Palladium (Pd) is electrochemically deposited on the benzothiophene derivative, the catalytic activity increased the 80.930 mA/cm(2). This result is highest than the current metal based anode catalyst. Moreover, EIS and CA measurements display that Pd dope ...More

Transient event classification using pmu data with deep learning techniques and synthetically supported training-set

Özgül SALOR-DURNA

This paper presents a research work which focuses on generating synthetic data to enrich the training-set of a deep learning (DL) based classification system to classify power system transient events using PMU frequency measurements. The synthetically improved training-set is shown to increase the classification performance compared to the case when only the actual-data training-set is used. The proposed classification system helps to reveal high-frequency transient variation information out of PMU measurements collected at a relatively much lower rate, especially when a small set of training- ...More

Excitation wavelength dependent triple-mode photoluminescence of copper-based halides for advanced anti-counterfeiting

Mehmet ERTUĞRUL

New fluorescent materials with a low cost, hypotoxicity, and concealment are desired for the application of anti-counterfeiting. Herein, we report a CsCu2I3@Cs3Cu2I5 composite with a triple-mode photoluminescence (PL) feature by simply adjusting the excitation wavelengths, which are ascribed to the multiple excited states of different phases in the CsCu2I3@Cs3Cu2I5 composite. The broadband emission and high quantum yield (∼51) of the composite originate from the structure-oriented self-trapped excitons effect of Cs3Cu2I5 and CsCu2I3 phases. Moreover, the incorporation of polyethylene oxide (PE ...More

Waveform Correlation Based Harmonic Voltage Contribution Determination of Iron and Steel Plants Supplied From PCC

Özgül SALOR-DURNA

This paper presents a new waveform correlation based method which determines the individual harmonic voltage contributions of Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) plants supplied from a point of common coupling (PCC). The method is based on the waveform correlation computations between the PCC voltage and the feeder current at the individual harmonic frequency. PCCs supplying multiple EAF plants usually suffer from high voltage harmonic components due to their operation principles. A relationship between the correlation coefficient of the PCC voltage and the feeder current waveforms, and the harmonic vo ...More

ANALYSES of P-Tst-1, P-Tst-3 and P-Tst-6 RETROTRANSPOSONS IN CONVENTIONALLY AND ORGANICALLY PRODUCED TOMATOES

Yılmaz KAYA

Tomato is one of the best-studied cultivated dicotyledonous plants in molecular studies. Mobile genetic elements constitute large parts of plant genomes. Retrotransposons are mobile genetic elements within the genome and constitute more than 60 of the tomato genome.Transposable elements (TE) or transposons are DNA sequences that can alter their position within a genome, cause mutations and change the genetic identity of the cells and genome size. We aimed to analyze potato specific-P-Tst-1, P-Tst-3 and P-Tst-6 retrotransposon movements in tomatoes at different developmental stages (mature seed ...More

Of Silica Gel-Glasses on the 4 I 13/2 → 4 I 15/2 Luminescence Bandwidth of Er3 Ions

Zamirgül KAZAKBAYEVA

The luminescence of Er3 ions in silica glasses synthesized by the direct sol–gel–glass transition method and by melting of activated gel grit using various precursors of optical centers was studied. The formation of complex centers including erbium, aluminum, and alkali metal ions was found to be one way of essentially increasing the half-width of the 4 I 13/2 → 4 I 15/2 luminescence band of these ions. Biofuel Cell Based on Anode and Cathode Modified by Glucose Oxidase

Ali Osman SOLAK

A single compartment biofuel cell (BFC) based on an anode and a cathode powered by the same fuel glucose is reported. Glucose oxidase (GOx) from Aspergillus niger was applied as a glucose consuming biocatalyst for both anode and cathode of the BFC. The 5-amino-1,10-phenanthroline modified graphite rod electrode (GRE) with cross-linked GOx was used as the bioanode, and the GRE with co-immobilised horseradish peroxidase and GOx was exploited as the biocathode of the BFC. The open-circuit voltage of the designed BFC exceeded 450 mV and a maximal power density of 3.5 µW/cm2 was registered at a cel ...More
