Carbon Nanotube Supported CdM(S, Se)/CdTe Anode Catalysts for Electrooxidation of Glucose in Alkaline Media

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK | Nahit AKTAŞ

The sequential sodium borohydride (SBH, NaBH4) reduction method was utilized to prepare the 0.1 CdSe/CNT, 0.1 CdS/CNT, 0.1 (CdS-CNT)/CdTe, and 0.1 (CdSe-CNT)/CdTe catalysts. The XRD, SEM-EDS, TEM, and XPS analyses were used to characterize the catalysts. The electrochemical measurements were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analyses for glucose electrooxidation. The characterization analyses revealed that the desired structure was formed on the support material. The electrochemical analysis results indicated that the ...More

The enhanced TiO2-supported CdTe photocatalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide electrooxidation

Nahit AKTAŞ

At present, titanium dioxide (TiO2)-supported CdTe photocatalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) electrooxidation. The structural and morphology surface analyses of these photocatalysts were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) and mapping analysis, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–VIS) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). In addition, the photocatal ...More

Environmental pollution size of the Bishkek Solid Waste Landfill and treatment of generated leachate wastewater

Nurzat ŞAYKİYEVA

The disposal of municipal solid wastes (MSW) is one of the important issues today. The MSW is generally disposed of in a landfill. The disintegration of wastes in landfill generates the wastewater known as leachate and it became one of the budding environmental impacts. The landfill leachate seeps into natural ponds next to the Bishkek (Kyrgyzstan) landfill. The MSWs are dumped with an irregular landfill in Bishkek, and it has been observed that this situation creates many environmental pollution problems (air pollution due to the combustion of wastes and generated biogas, due to leakage of le ...More

A REMARKABLE SYNERGIC EFFECT OF POLY (ACRYCLIC ACID) HYDROGEL ANCHORED PD CATALYSTS IN FORMIC ACID ELECTROOXIDATION REACTION

Nahit AKTAŞ

Polymer-based catalysts have never been used before as anode catalysts in direct formic acid fuel cells. At present, Poly (acrylic acid), Poly (AA) was prepared and electrodes were constructed on graphite pencil (G) from these hydrogels. Furthermore, Pd doped Poly (AA)/G electrodes were prepared by employing electrodeposition techniques, and their formic acid electrooxidation (FAEO) activities were examined via cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. These electrodes were characterized by DT-TGA, FTIR, and SEM-EDX. It was observed that Poly (AA)/G wer ...More

Promoting formic acid and ethylene glycol electrooxidation activity on Ga modified Pd based catalysts

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK | Nahit AKTAŞ

Herein, carbon nanotube (CNT)-supported Ga@PdAgCo catalysts were synthesized by sodium borohydride (SBH) sequential reduction method. These catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Characterization results revealed that these catalysts were succesfully preared at desired loading and atomic ratios. From the XRD pattern, the crystallite size of 0.5 Ga@PdAgCo(80:10:10)/CNT catalysts was found as 6.95 nm by utilizing the Scherrer equation. From ...More

The effect of titanium dioxide-supported CdSe photocatalysts enhanced for photocatalytic glucose electrooxidation under UV illumination

Nahit AKTAŞ

The wetness impregnation method was used to synthesize 0.1 CdSe/TiO2 photocatalysts with different atomic molar ratios (90-10, 70-30, 50-50, and 30-70). These catalysts were characterized by XRD, SEM-EDX and mapping, TEM-EDS, UV-VIS spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, XPS, TPR, TPO, and TPD analyses. Cyclic voltammetry (CV), chronoamperometry (CA), and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) analyses were performed to examine the photocatalytic activity for photocatalytic fuel cells (PFCs) in glucose solution in the dark and under UV illumination. The characterization analyses reveal ...More

Quantum size effect of cadmium-doped titanium dioxide photocatalysts towards methylene blue degradation and electrooxidation

Nahit AKTAŞ

At present, titanium dioxide supported cadmium catalysts were prepared at 0.5-5?admium loading by impregnation method. 0.5?d/TiO2 catalyst was characterized with scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray (SEM-EDX), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Characterization results revealed that by cadmium doping to titanium dioxide, surface electronic properties and crystal structure of Cd/TiO2 catalysts changed as obtained from SEM-EDX, XRD, and XPS. Following this, methylene blue degradation and electrochemical oxidation measurements were examined under ...More
