Natural Products/Bioactive Compounds as a Source of Anticancer Drugs

Fatih Ramazan İSTANBULLUGİL

Simple Summary Cancer is considered as a large group of diseases involving abnormal cell growth, which results in an alarming rise in the mortality rate at the worldwide level. Presently, the main point of interest in pharmaceutical research is the development of the novel and efficient anticancer drugs based on natural sources. In this regard, plants, and some microbial species, due to their composition, ecology, phytochemical, and ethnopharmacological properties, play a significant role. Accordingly, a series of plant-derived bioactive compounds are in the clinical development phase against ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of Intraoperative Effects of Intratesticular Lidocaine and Procaine on Hemodynamic Responses in Male Cats Undergoing Routine Castration

Ayday CUNUŞOVA

This study was aimed to compare the effects of intratesticularly administered lidocaine and procaine on perioperative nocifensive responses in cats undergoing elective castration. Sixteen male cats (weighing between 2.3 and 6.7 kg, and 8 mounths to 3 years of age) were received for planned castration and suitable for inclusion. Cats were incidentally divided to 2: the lidocaine (group 1) and the procaine (group 2) groups. In group 1, lidocaine (1 mg/kg) was slowly injected to the right testis of the cats with a hypodermic syringe. In group 2, 1 mg/kg procaine was slowly injected to the right t ...Daha fazlası

Mixed Bacteriological Isolation Percentages from the Uterus of Cows Slaughtered due to Infertility

Ali RIŞVANLI

Background: Intrauterine mixed infections are an important problem in cattle breeding. In this study, we aimed to determine the mixed bacteriological isolation rates from the uterus of cows with clinical metritis and to reveal the relationships between the bacteria that isolated together. Methods: For this purpose, sterile swabs were taken from 490 uterus obtained from cattle slaughtered due to infertility in three slaughterhouses and used them to perform microbiological tests. After evaluating the data, it was determined that the bacterial isolation rate from uterus with clinical metritis was ...Daha fazlası

Effect of somatic cell count on milk composition and some chemical properties of milk

Ali RIŞVANLI

Subclinical mastitis is a very important disease for dairy cattle farms. As a result of the deterioration of milk quality, it causes economic losses in enterprises. Milk samples of 180 cows were divided into five groups according to the somatic cell count. Some chemical properties and composition were measured in milk samples. The ratio of solid-non-fat, mineral matter, lactose, and protein decreased as the somatic cell count of the milk increased (P < 0.05). No statistical difference was observed between the fat content of milk and the level of somatic cell count (P > 0.05). Although specific ...Daha fazlası

Determination of the levels of 17-beta Estradiol and Progesterone in Cow milk and Baby Follow-on milk by ELISA

Ali RIŞVANLI

The current study was undertaken to determine the 17-13 Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P4) levels in different milk products and some baby follow-on milk samples collected from retail markets in Turkiye. For this purpose, a total of 50 samples from 8 different product groups with different fat levels, production technologies, and production series were analyzed for natural P4 and E2 levels using a commercial ELISA kit. The highest E2 level was determined in UHT whole milk (3) (39.20 /- 6.73 pmol center dot L-1) while the lowest level was found in buttermilk (26.50 /- 1.85 pmol center dot L-1 ...Daha fazlası

Investigation of Changes in Biochemical Parameters in Some Diseases Occurring During the Transition Period in Simmental Cows

Ali RIŞVANLI

The transition period is important in cows. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of retained fetal membranes (RFM), clinical mastitis, and metritis on biochemical and selected mineral levels in Simmental cows. Cows were divided into five groups; cows with RFM (n=17), clinical mastitis (n=25), metritis (n=21) and postpartum healthy cows (n=21) within 21 days postpartum, and also prepartum healthy cows (n=20) in the 15±5 days before the expected parturition date. The activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (85.18±15.83 U/L), aspartate transaminase (AST) (123.02±19.15 U/L), and gamma-g ...Daha fazlası

The Relationship of Blood Asprosin Levels and Biochemical Parameters in Pregnant Cows = Gebe İneklerde Kan Asprosin Düzeylerinin Biyokimyasal Parametrelerle İlişkisi

Ali RIŞVANLI

In this study, it was aimed to determine asprosin levels in pregnant and non-pregnant cows and to determine the relationship between some biochemical parameters and asprosin levels. For this purpose, 60 Simmental cows were divided into two groups as pregnant (n30) and non- pregnant cows on the postpartum 15th day (n30), and asprosin levels and biochemical parameters were measured by taking blood from the cows once. Measured biochemical parameters were Alkaline phosphatase (ALP), Amylase, Creatine kinase myocardial band (CK-MB), Creatine kinase N-acetyl cysteine (CK-NAC), Gamma glutamyl transfe ...Daha fazlası

The effects of novel electrical teat dipping on some mastitis parameters in dairy herds

Ali RIŞVANLI

Electrical teat dipping (ETD) is a novel, patented method developed by the authors to control mastitis in dairy cows. Here we evaluate the efficacy of ETD in reducing the incidence of clinical mastitis and bulk tank milk somatic cell count (BTMSCC) on three dairy farms over 6 months. ETD was applied for morning and evening milking on three farms, while conventional teat dipping (CTD) was applied on the other three farms. The number of animals and quarters with clinical mastitis and monthly BTMSCC measurements were recorded. We found that the incidence of clinical mastitis was lower on farms us ...Daha fazlası
