Correlation and sequential path analysis of oil yield and related characteristics in camelina under seasonal variations

Hossein ZEİNALZADEH TABRİZİ

The objectives of the current study were to determine the usefulness of sequential path analysis in camelina to obtain information about the relationship between yield and yield components and to evaluate their relative importance in camelina oil yield under summer and winter cultivation. A split-plot design, with two varieties as the main plot and four sowing times as the subplot, was carried out over two growing seasons (2017-2019) in Samsun, Turkey. Sequential path analysis revealed that, as first-order predictors, grain yield and oil content displayed the most significant and positive dire ...Daha fazlası

Effects of botanical gardens on student environmental perception

Hasan YILMAZ

This paper examines the role of the classroom environment in promoting student well-being and, more specif-ically, a sense of responsibility towards nature in the city. The study analyzed how indoor vs outdoor educational environments affect students' perception of events and phenomena focusing on emotional, behavioral and cognitive processes. It was conducted in the Kayakyolu Secondary School, Erzurum, Turkey with 282 students ranging in age from 11 to 14 in grades 5-8. They participated in reading a story in two distinct environments: an enclosed indoor classroom and an outdoor botanical gar ...Daha fazlası

Trait profiling and genotype selection in oilseed rape using genotype by trait and genotype by yield*trait approaches

Hossein ZEİNALZADEH TABRİZİ

Selection and breeding for high-yielding in oilseed rape have always been one of the leading objectives for oilseed rape breeders. This process becomes more complicated when all quantitative traits are considered in selection in addition to grain yield. In the present study, 18 oilseed rape genotypes along with 2 check cultivars (RGS003 and Dalgan) were evaluated across 16 environments (a combination of 2 years and eight locations) in the tropical climate regions of Iran during 2018–2019 and 2019–2020 cropping seasons. The experiments were conducted in a format of randomized complete block des ...Daha fazlası

The Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Lead (Pb)Applications on Eggplant Seedling Growth and Nutrient Uptake

Mustafa PAKSOY | Önder TÜRKMEN

There are many factors, which negatively affect plant development. One of these factors is lead (Pb), which causes toxic effects on plants during the seedling period. Mycorrhizas (AMF) contribute positively to plant growth. In eggplant seedlings, it has been researched whether to tolerate the negative effects of lead with mycorrhizas. In the study, Gigaspora margarita (Gm) and Glomus intraradices (Gi) mycorrhizal races were applied before seeds were sown. After the first true leaves appeared, 5 different doses of Pb (0, 100, 200, 400 and 800 ppm) were given. As a result, the earliest true leaf ...Daha fazlası

The Effects of Postharvest MAP and Edible Surface Coating (Peppermint Essential Oil) on Fruit Quality and Storage Time in Fig (Ficus carica L.) Fruit Types

Mürüvvet ILGIN

In this study, Abbas fig variety grown in Kahramanmaraş province of Turkey was used.Abbas fig variety was covered with peppermint oil, an essential oil variety, and stored at 4°C for 5 weeks in bags prepared with modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) technology. As a result of the study, it was aimed to extend the storage time and shelf life of the fig fruit with these applications. Pomological and chemical analyses were performed on the samples during storage. In the study, in order to determine fruit quality characteristics, weight loss, fruit width and fruit length, fruit rind and flesh color, ...Daha fazlası

Construction, characteristics and high throughput molecular screening methodologies in some special breeding populations: a horticultural perspective

Hasan CAN | İbrahim İlker ÖZYİĞİT | Mustafa PAKSOY

Advanced marker technologies are widely used for evaluation of genetic diversity in cultivated crops, wild ancestors, landraces or any special plant genotypes. Developing agricultural cultivars requires the following steps: (i) determining desired characteristics to be improved, (ii) screening genetic resources to help find a superior cultivar, (iii) intercrossing selected individuals, (iv) generating genetically hybrid populations and screening them for agro-morphological or molecular traits, (v) evaluating the superior cultivar candidates, (vi) testing field performance at different location ...Daha fazlası

Physiological, Morphological and Biochemical Responses of Exogenous Hydrogen Sulfide in Salt-Stressed Tomato Seedlings

Atilla DURSUN

Salinity causes yield and quality losses in agricultural production and therefore great economic losses around the world. Hydrogen sulfide (H2S) is known to play a crucial role to ease physiological and metabolic processes in plants, and also increases the tolerance of the plant against many abiotic stress conditions. In this study, we investigated the effects of H2S treatments (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100 mu M NaHS were applied as H2S donor) to the tomato seedlings to alleviate the harmful effects of salt stress (0, 75 and 150 mM NaCl). There was a significant decrease in plant growth and developme ...Daha fazlası

Improving salt tolerance of bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) with hydrogen sulfide

Atilla DURSUN

The current study examined the H2S applications on growth, biochemical and physiological parameters of bean seedlings under saline conditions. The findings of the study indicated that salt stress decreased plant growth and development, photosynthetic activity, and mineral and hormone content [excluding abscisic acid (ABA)] in bean seedlings. Plant and root fresh mass and dry mass with H2S applications increased as compared to the control treatment at the same salinity level. Both salinity and H2S treatments significantly affected the net assimilation rate, stomatal conductance, transpiration r ...Daha fazlası

Evaluation of wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) lines for drought tolerance in Kyrgyzstan

Venera İSAYEVA

The study was carried out to explore drought stress indices in F4 hybrid generations of Triticum aestivum L. to select drought stress tolerant lines for rainfed areas of Kyrgyzstan. Wheat is the main food crop in Kyrgyzstan. There are about 0.3 million ha allotted for wheat, more than half of these sown areas (0.2 million ha) are in rainfed farming zones, where the amount of precipitation rarely exceeds 300-400 mm per year. The study was conducted in 2019 at the experimental field of Agricultural Faculty of Kyrgyz-Turkish Manas University. Eighteen hybrid lines of spring wheat and two released ...Daha fazlası

Comparison of genotype × trait and genotype × yield-trait biplots in Sunflower cultivars

Hossein ZEİNALZADEH TABRİZİ

The selection of genotypes based on various characteristics is a critical challenge in plant breeding. An experiment was carried out in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) in three replications over two crop years, 2018-2019, to compare the effects of genotype × trait (GT) and the genotype × yield-trait (GYT) methods as well as investigate the relationships between grain yield and different agronomic traits. Plant materials ten sunflowers (Helianthus annuus L.) genotypes. Based on the combined analysis of variance, there was a significant difference in parameters except leaf length. The ...Daha fazlası

Effect of Plant Pattern and Density on Morphological Characteristics and Yield-Related Traits of Non-Dehiscent Sesame Cultivar

Hossein ZEİNALZADEH TABRİZİ

Determining the appropriate planting arrangement and plant density leads to better productivity of resources and increased yield per unit area. In this regard, an experiment was conducted in the Ardabil agricultural and natural resources research and education center (Moghan) during the 2021 crop year. This experiment uses a strip plot design based on randomized complete blocks with four replications. Its main factor is the effect of planting rows at a spacing of 30, 45, and 60 cm with planting spacing of 5, 8, 11, and 14 cm serving as the subfactor. According to the results, by increasing the ...Daha fazlası
