The study investigated the status of cereal cyst nematodes (CCN) in the main wheat-growing areas of Kyrgyzstan in 2020. Soil samples were taken from 69 different wheat fields located in Chuy and Issyk-Kul provinces. CCN were found in thirty-one out of the sixty-nine locations surveyed. The highest occurrence of CCN was in the Tyup location in Issyk-Kul province with 81 cysts (250 cm3 soil)-1. The CCN populations were identified by both morphological and molecular analyses. According to the results, all populations were identified as Heterodera filipjevi. No variations in rDNA-ITS sequencing da ...More
A botanical and ecological study of locally collected material showed that wheat landraces are represented in a very wide variety of ecological and morphological forms scattered in different areas of Kyrgyzstan. In total, 60 subspecies of spring wheat belonging to 6 species are found in Kyrgyzstan. There are several ecological groups on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The most common ecotypes, rigidum and subrigidum, are related to Iranian-Asian subspecies. At present, about 80 varieties of the Kyrgyz wheat of Kazakh breeding and breeding of the CIS countries are successfully passing the state va ...More
Fusarium crown rot of wheat is an economically important disease that leads to significant yield and quality losses, especially in arid and semiarid wheat-growing areas worldwide. In June 2020, winter wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) plants exhibiting crown rot symptoms were identified in a commercial field in Tokbay (43.033719°N, 74.325623°E), Chuy Province, Kyrgyzstan. Diseased plants were stunted and had brown discoloration on internodes of the stem bases and roots. Disease incidence was ∼3%. Ten plants from the field were sampled at the ripening stage to identify the causal agent. Symptomatic ...More
The aim of this research is to evaluate and analyze the influence of different degrees of salt stress on the tolerance of Australian wheat lines having characteristics derived from wild types in comparison with a local cultivar well–adapted to Anatolian conditions under controlled conditions. In the research, the two lines, namely AU5924 and AU5907, adapted to Australian conditions harbor HKT1;4 and HKT1;5 loci and Bayraktar 2000 cultivar used as genetic material. In our study, a trial plan with four replicates and two salt treatment doses (0 mM control group and 200 mM stress group) was desig ...More
