An updated checklist of the species of Turkish Raphidioptera and further analysis concerning their zoogeographical distribution are presented in this study. The present checklist has been based on studies from the literature and includes records from extensive material that I have identified over the last few years. The Turkish Raphidioptera presently comprises 40 species in 8 genera and 2 families. There are 38 species of Raphidiidae, while there are only 2 species of Inocelliidae in Turkey. Among these species, 19 species are recorded as endemic and the endemism rate is 47.5%. Distributions ...More
The vascular flora alongside the railway track between Haydarpasa and Gebze in Turkey was investigated and the floristic features of the study area are presented here. The investigation was undertaken during 2003-2009. In total 194 plant taxa were determined. Out of these 174 were naturally growing and 20 were exotics and cultivated. Native taxa within the flora belonged to 135 genera and 50 families, exotic and cultivated taxa belonged to 20 genera and 15 families. The members of Dicotyledonae constituted of 82.76% and Monocotyledonae 16.09% of the native taxa. The highest number of these tax ...More
Two species of the family Coniopterygidae, Coniopteryx (Xeroconiopteryx) loipetsederi H. Aspöck, 1963 and C. (Coniopteryx) borealis Tjeder, 1931, are here recorded for the first time in the Turkish fauna. Morphological and ecological notes as well as the distribution map with new recording sites are also provided. For C. loipetsederi, this is the most eastern record, and the eastern limits of the range of C. borealis have also been extended. -

In this study, West Nile Virus antibody presence (WNV) in white leghorn chickens located in various commercial domestic chicken establishments in Konya was studied serologically. Blood sampling from 380 white leghorn chickens within the age range of 20-40 weeks was carried out. Blood serum samples were studied by West Nile Competition ELISA kit. The aim of this research is to contribute into the development of a strategic and systematic outsourcing decision-making framework for practitioners. In this regard, the authors propose a concrete decision framework that would incorporate quantitative measures and financial dimensions in outsourcing decision-making process. In addition, the authors also provide a platform to make outsourcing decisions under high uncertainty levels associated with insufficient and/or imprecise data. For this purpose, Monte Carlo simulation is used to evaluate the financial results of an outsourcing decision bas ...More
Cotton is a product that provides wealth for humanity with its widespread and compulsory usage, and alongside creating employment opportunities in the producer countries. Due to the availability of suitable land for agriculture, seven countries including Turkey produce close to 80% of cotton worldwide. The average cotton yield in Turkey is above the world average, placing the country close to first place among the major producing countries. On the other hand, Turkey is one of the main countries engaged in organic cotton production by using only non-transgenic seeds and therefore, its cotton as ...More

The interaction among the energy unit prices, which are considered as the most effective factor on the realization of economic growth, and the distribution of this interaction throughout the manufacturing process have become popular subjects in research recently. Especially, the scarcity of energy resources and the problems encountered in their supply make it necessary to utilize alternative energy resources. Thus, the realization of production using different energy inputs simultaneously results in an interaction between the factors and the spillover effect. Thus, in the study, alternative ve ...More
Medicinal plants have been used for treatment of many diseases since the ancient times with traditional knowledge being transferred from generation to generation. However, in recent years, many natural habitats have been contaminated due to increased anthropogenic activities. Plants which are exposed to heavy metal toxicity may experience several serious problems. Furthermore, the inclusion of these plants into the food chain poses a threat to human health as well. Additionally, presence of heavy metals directly effect mineral nutrition and consequently the food quality. The aim of this study ...More
