Communicating with Voters in Social Networks: The Case of 2011 Presidential Elections in Kyrgyzstan

This study analyzes online electoral campaigns of candidates for 2011 Presidential Elections in Kyrgyzstan in order to explore interactivity – as a way for improving participation, information, and interest, and the relationships between civil society and parties – within the websites and social network accounts of the candidates. The election involved 19 candidates to the presidency. Total 13 websites, 5 Facebook accounts, 6 Twitter accounts and 4 Odnoklassniki of candidates were monitored during election campaign period of 25 September and 27 October 2011.

An ideological and cultural analysis was made to the documentary film 'Sovetskaya Kirgiziya' shot in 1947 for the memory of the twentieth anniversary of the Kyrgyz Soviet Socialist Republic. Материальная и моральная поддержка со стороны России в период национально-освободительной борьбы в Турции сыграла очень важную роль. Монумент «Республика», который был построен на самой большой площади Стамбула Таксим в 1928 г., является одним из памятников, изображающих борьбу страны за независимость и модернизацию. В рамках исследования памятник был оценен с коммуникационной перспективы и исследован с помощью семиотического анализа.

International women’s day: ostensible celebrations or historical milestone of women’s emancipation

The article is devoted to the information coverage of 8 March International Women’s Day as a historical symbol of women’s struggle for changes in their lives and in society. We analysed the media coverage of it in Turkey, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Norway. The qualitative analysis shows that the general conditions of women were ignored and good looking and well-educated women were portrait to mark the activities of International Women’s Day.
