Determination of the levels of 17-beta Estradiol and Progesterone in Cow milk and Baby Follow-on milk by ELISA

Ali RIŞVANLI

The current study was undertaken to determine the 17-13 Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P4) levels in different milk products and some baby follow-on milk samples collected from retail markets in Turkiye. For this purpose, a total of 50 samples from 8 different product groups with different fat levels, production technologies, and production series were analyzed for natural P4 and E2 levels using a commercial ELISA kit. The highest E2 level was determined in UHT whole milk (3) (39.20 /- 6.73 pmol center dot L-1) while the lowest level was found in buttermilk (26.50 /- 1.85 pmol center dot L-1 ...More

Effect of different storage temperatures on the stability of bovine viral diarrhea virus RNA in blood samples

Orhan YAPICI

The present study was conducted to determine stability of Bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) RNA stored at different temperatures. A total of 6 blood samples obtained from a private cattle farm, which were found to be antigen positive (Ag+) by direct ELISA method, were used in this study. BVDV Ag+ samples were stored separately at 4, 21 and 37oC for 1 month. The samples were analyzed on the 0, 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th weeks by ELISA for the presence of BVDV Ag and by RT-PCR for the presence of BVDV RNA. Stability of BVDV RNA was calculated using maximum concentration (Cmax) and area under the cur ...More

Detection of Antibodies Against Blue Tongue Virus in Yaks (Bos Grunniens) in Issyk Kul, First Report

Orhan YAPICI

Bluetongue virus (BTV) caused infection is commonly determined in ruminants including sheep and cattle. However, there is a little information about the seroprevalence of BTV in yaks. The aim of this study was to describe the seroprevalence rate BTV in unvaccinated yaks in Issyk Kul, Kyrgyzstan. A total of 168 serum samples were collected from yaks between September to November 2012. Antibodies to BTV in sera were detected using a commercially available competitive enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. 2.38% seroprevalence (n: 4) was determined in the samples as positive for BTV antibodies. This ...More

Serological and virological investigation of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus infection in cattle with abortion problem

Orhan YAPICI

Aim: The aim of this study is to determine the presence of Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) infection in a cattle herd with abortion problem in Konya. Materials and Methods: Totally 228 blood serum and 228 leukocytes taken from cattle selected according to criteria for infertile and abortion problems were examined for antigens and antibodies to BVDV by Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assay. Results: In this research, 41 (17.9%) sera were found seropositive and 4 (1.7%) leukocytes were BVDV antigen positive. Of these 4 BVDV antigen positive cattle, a number of 2 (0.8%) were detected seropositive ...More

Sütçü sığırların kan ve süt serumlarında Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus antikorlarının ELISA ile belirlenmesi

Orhan YAPICI

Amaç: Bu çalışma kan ve süt serumlarının Bovine Viral Diarrhea Virus (BVDV) antijen varlığı ve BVDV'ye karşı gelişen antikorların tespit edilmesi amacıyla yapıldı. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışmada toplam 202 adet sığır kan ve süt serum örnekleri kullanıldı. Çiftliklerden elde edilen serum örnekleri BVDV antijen varlığı yönünden direkt Enyzme Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) ile BVDV'ye karşı gelişen antikor varlığı yönünden ise indirekt ELISA ile incelendi. Bulgular: 167 adet (%82.6) kan serumu ve 160 adet (%79.2) süt serum örneği BVDV antikorları yönünden pozitif belirlendi. Araştırmada 148 adet ...More
