pKa values of the organic surfaces were determined with ionizable carboxylic acid groups, obtained by the modification of gold electrode by reduction of p-benzoic acid diazonium tetrafluoroborate and oxidation of p-aminobenzoic acid. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) techniques were used in the surface pKa determination, by exploiting the barrier effect arising from the charged nature of the surface against the electrochemistry of Fe(CN)64-/3- redox probe. Contact angle measurement (CAM) technique was also used to compare the accuracy of the surface pKa v ...More
Electrochemical reduction mechanism of some salicylaldimine podands derived from salicylaldehyde and diamines having general formula of HO-C6H4-CH=N-R-N=CH-C6H4-OH [R = ‒, (CH2)6, (CH2CH2)2NH, (CH2CH2OCH2)2], namely N,N’-bis(salicylidene)-diamine (BSA), N,N’-bis(salicylidene)-1,6-hexanediamine (BSH), 1,7-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-1,4,7-triazaheptane (BST), 1,10-bis(2-hydroxybenzyl)-4,7-dioxa–1,10-diazadecane (BDD), respectively, were investigated by using various electrochemical techniques in 0.1 M tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBATFB) in acetonitrile (MeCN) at a glassy carbon (GC) electrod ...More
The extensive use of chromium in leather tanning, metallurgy, electroplating and other industries has resulted in the release of aqueous chromium to the subsurface at numerous sites. Cr (VI) has received considerable attention owing to its extensive industrial applications and has long been recognised as a toxic substance due to its strong oxidising potential and the ease with which it can cross the biological membranes. In recent years the application of various solvent extraction technologies to the removal and concentration of chromium have been widely studied; chemical precipitation, ion e ...More
Emulsion type liquid membrane process is a new and effective method for separation of mixtures with applications in the nuclear industry, hydrometallurgy and wastewater treatment. The emulsified liquid membrane is made by forming an emulsion of two immiscible phases and then dispersing the emulsion in a third phase (i.e. continuous or feed phase). Phenol is mainly found in the wastewaters of such industries as petroleum refineries and petrochemicals. In addition phenol is also contained in the wastewaters of industries of resins, explosives, paper, plastics, glass and rubbers. Numerous solvent ...More
Manganese dioxide decorated carboxylated graphene oxide (Mn-GO-COOH) attached onto the glassy carbon (GC) electrode to develop a new method for the simultaneous determination of Cd2+ and Pb2+ ions in rice samples. Graphene oxide (GO) was attached on 4-aminophenyl covalently modified glassy carbon surface via amide reaction. As-prepared modified material was characterized with XPS, SEM and electrochemical methods. A novel differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetric (DPASV) method was developed for the simultaneous determination of Cd2+ and Pb2+ on the GC/Mn-GO-COOH nanoplatform electrode. ...More
A novel and functional Multi-Responsive Hydrogel (MRH) was synthesized form N, N dimethyl acrylamide (DMAAm), gelatin, citric acid (CA) and purple cabbage extract (PCE) to be utilized as smart food packaging material. The MRH, which was p(Gelatin-co-DMAAm)/CA-PCE, was synthesized through redox polymerization technique as film form in petri dishes. Mechanical and water resistances of the MRH was improved by addition of citric acid and N, N, methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as cross linker. PCE was added to the reaction mixture to obtain antimicrobial, antioxidant and anthocyanin properties. Dynamic ...More
