In this study, morphological and molecular characterizations of twenty-four Heterodera populations (cereal cyst nematodes, CCNs) collected from wheat production fields in Turkey were carried out. Light microscopy, species-specific markers, RFLP, and ITS sequencing were used to identify the nematode populations. The obtained CCN populations were identified as Heterodera avenae, H. filipjevi, and H. latipons according to the morphometric analysis, which was confirmed by the molecular techniques. The ITS region sequencing analysis confirmed the species identification, and phylogenetic analysis of ...More
The aim of this study was to determine the normal hematological and biochemical parameters of the Thoroughbred Appaloosa horse breeds which reared in Tong and Issık-Kul regions of Kyrgyzstan. Fifty-six (n 56) healthy horse breeds in different ages (0–12 months and 1–5 years) and gender (n 29 male and n 27 female) were clinically examined and blood samples were taken. Red blood cell (RBC) count, white blood cell (WBC) count, the count (#); the percentage () of the lymphocytes (lymph), monocytes (mid), granulocytes (gran); and the values of hemoglobin (HGB), hematocrit (HCT), blood clot cell ...More
Fire blight, caused by the bacterial pathogen Erwinia amylovora, is a severe bacterial disease of apple and pear that can quickly destroy whole plants. In the last decade, it was also detected in Central Asia, where wild pomaceous fruit plants represent the dominant species in mid-altitude forests and constitute a critical foundation for the entire ecosystem. Efficiently informing farmers, forestry services and private persons about the instances and dangers of fire blight, the correct way to recognize the symptoms, and the methods of disease control is thus of paramount importance in a vast a ...More
Salinity is one of the most brutal environmental factors limiting the productivity of agricultural lands worldwide. It is considered that the salinity may be one of the important reasons for the low yield in Igdir of the tomato plants, which is medium resistant (3-5 dS.m-1) among vegetables. Eco-friendly techniques such as endophytic root bacteria treatments (ERB) are needed to restore saline soils to agriculture and also to increase the yield of tomatoes. Endophytic bacteria colonizing the inside of plants increase plant growth by various mechanisms and also mitigate the adverse effects of bi ...More
This study investigated parametrically the erosive wear behavior of AISI 1015 and 304 steel in different environmental conditions. The erosive wear tests were designed according to the L9 orthogonal array design of the Taguchi fractional factorial method. The experiments were carried out with the parameters of 3-level slurry concentration formed with silica powder (5, 15, and 25 wt.), 3-level impact velocity (265, 397.5, and 530 rpm), and 3-level impact angle (30°, 60°, and 90°). Surface roughness and weight loss were considered performance criteria in the experimental data assessed using the ...More
The research focused on analyzing qualitative and quantitative morpho-physiological characteristics of local sweet cherry cultivars and genotypes. Quantitative and qualitative characteristics (fruit weight, fruit length, fruit width, fruit shape, fruit pistil end, fruit suture, fruit skin colour, fruit flesh colour, length of fruit stalk, thickness of fruit stalk, weight of fruit stalk, colour of fruit juice, fruit juiciness, eating quality, fruit sweetness, stone weight, stone shape, TA, pH, L, a, b, H, croma, cracking index, sensitivity class) with UPOV descriptors were used in the evaluatio ...More
A botanical and ecological study of locally collected material showed that wheat landraces are represented in a very wide variety of ecological and morphological forms scattered in different areas of Kyrgyzstan. In total, 60 subspecies of spring wheat belonging to 6 species are found in Kyrgyzstan. There are several ecological groups on the territory of Kyrgyzstan. The most common ecotypes, rigidum and subrigidum, are related to Iranian-Asian subspecies. At present, about 80 varieties of the Kyrgyz wheat of Kazakh breeding and breeding of the CIS countries are successfully passing the state va ...More
The advancement of the machine learning (ML) models has demonstrated notable progress in geosciences. They can identify the underlying process or causality of natural hazards. This article introduces the development and verification procedures of a new hybrid ML model, namely Bat-ELM for predictive drought modelling. The multi-temporal standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI-3 and SPEI-6) is computed as the meteorological drought index at two study regions (Beypazari and Nallihan), located in Ankara province, Turkey. The proposed hybrid model is obtained by integrating the Ba ...More
Kyrgyzstan is among the mother lands of apple and thus quite rich in apple genetic resources. This study was conducted to determine S-allele profiles of apple genotypes collected from different regions of Kyrgyzstan. The apple materials used belonged to 4 different species (M. domestica, M. kirghisorum, M. sieversii, M. niedzwetzkyana) and a total of 137 genotypes were evaluated in the study. Scorable bands were obtained with the use of 11 primer combinations and band lengths varied between 210 /- 50 and 700 /- 50 bp. Present findings revealed the most common S-allele as S46. Present findings ...More
Background Entomopathogenic fungi are a potential biological control agent for many pests. In this study, 14 native Beauveria bassiana isolates were molecularly identified and assessed for their virulence and mortality against adults of the polyphagous planthopper Orosanga japonica, Melichar (Hemiptera: Ricaniidae) a polyphagous sap-feeding insect, under laboratory conditions. Results Isolates obtained from naturally infected adults O. japonica were molecularly identified as B. bassiana by sequencing the internal transcribed spacer and 26S large subunit of ribosomal DNA. In the bioassay, the r ...More
