Influence of boundary conditions on the behavior of laminated glass curved beam with delamination effect: An experimental and numerical investigation

Ebru DURAL

The delamination phenomena of laminated glass structures are issues that are not perfectly understood and remain problematic to predict due to the nonlinearity of the geometric response. A research study is undertaken to investigate the behavior of laminated glass curved beams with initial delamination exposed to different boundary conditions. A mathematical model which contains nonlinear field equations and boundary conditions is developed. An iterative procedure for the solution of field equations is implemented. In addition, experiments are conducted and finite element model is developed to ...More

Renewable-based treatment solution of Reactive Blue 21 dye on fly ash as low-cost and sustainable adsorbent

Mehmet KOBYA

This study investigated the removal of Reactive Blue 21 (RB 21) dye from aqueous solutions by adsorption, evaluating the waste fly ash (FA). The effects of the parameters, such as initial dye concentration (100–750 mg/L), initial pH (2.0–8.0), adsorbent dose (1.0–4.0 g/L), and temperature (298–323 K) on the adsorption process were investigated. The optimum initial pH value was 2.0 for the highest RB21 dye removal (75.2 mg/g). At optimized conditions (pH 2.0, an adsorbent dosage of 1.0 g/L, a dye concentration of 750 mg/L, and an equilibrium time of 72 h), the highest adsorption capacity was fo ...More

Corporate environmental, social, and governance activities and financial reporting quality: An international investigation

Gökhan ÖZER

This paper examines the impact of firms' environmental, social, and governance (ESG) activities on financial reporting quality (FRQ). The study uses 45,877 firm-year observations from 65 countries between 2003 and 2021. In the research model, firm characteristics and macroeconomic and institutional structure characteristics of the countries are controlled for. This study finds that firms with higher ESG scores have higher FRQ. Additionally, our mediation analysis indicates that financial distress costs serve as a crucial mechanism through which ESG influences FRQ. Our findings are robust after ...More

Numerical study on effect of process parameters on material extrusion 3D printing (ME3DP) for porous bone tissue engineering scaffolds

Refik POLAT

Bone tissue engineering (BTE) holds promise for treating bone defects, and 3D-printed porous scaffolds are pivotal for tissue regeneration. This study explores the impact of material extrusion 3D printing (ME3DP) process parameters (i.e., layer height and extrusion temperature) on 3D-printed porous scaffolds made of polyetherimide (PEI) material for BTE. The intricate relationships shaping scaffold dimensional accuracy, residual stresses, and warpage tendencies were unveiled using comprehensive numerical simulations. Our findings reveal that higher layer heights enhance dimensional stability, ...More

Mixed metal oxide (Ru, Ir, Sn) electrodes in the anodic activation of peroxydisulfate for a sustainable degradation of rifampicin

Mehmet KOBYA

Electrochemical advanced oxidation processes (EAOPs) are promising approaches to wastewater purification. Anodic oxidation (AO), due to its ease and cost-efficiency, has attracted rising attention in this research area. Herein, we employ Mixed Metal Oxide (MMO) electrodes, including RuIrSnOx@Ti, RuIrOx@Ti, and RuOx@Ti, to activate peroxydisulfate (PDS) in the anodic activation process. The Rifampicin (RIF) pharmaceutical was selected as the model pollutant to be treated in the proposed electrochemical system. The surface and electrochemical characteristics of the electrodes were characterized ...More

Metrisor: A novel diagnostic method for metritis detection in cattle based on machine learning and sensors

Ali RIŞVANLI

The Metrisor device has been developed using gas sensors for rapid, highly accurate and effective diagnosis of metritis. 513 cattle uteri were collected from abattoirs and swabs were taken for microbiological testing. The Metrisor device was used to measure intrauterine gases. The results showed a bacterial growth rate of 75.75 in uteri with clinical metritis. In uteri positive for clinical metritis, the most commonly isolated and identified bacteria were Trueperella pyogenes, Fusobacterium necrophorum and Escherichia coli. Measurements taken with Metrisor to determine the presence of metritis ...More

Nutritional composition of ghee of various animal origins produced in some silk road countries

Canıl İSKAKOVA

This study aimed to investigate the fatty acids, vitamins, and minerals of ghee from various animal milk from different countries, such as India, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, and Turkey. Ghee consists of 98.9 of fat, irrespective of the animal source. Among the short- and medium-chain saturated fatty acids, all samples contain butyric (C4:0), caproic (C6:0), caprylic (C8:0), and capric acid (C10:0). Mare and goat ghee additionally contain undecanoic acid (C11:0). Major fatty acids were myristic acid (C14:0), palmitic acid (C16:0), stearic acid (C18:0), and monounsaturated fatty acid was o ...More
