Valorization of Chicken Feather Waste: Fabrication of Keratin-Chitosan Biofilms

Mustafa DOLAZ

According to scientists, keratin is one of the most abundant fibrous materials in nature after cellulose and chitin in the world. Several nature fibrous materials have a wide range of application starting from biomedical application to the construction sector, and especially the textile sector. The uses of natural fibers in these sectors are economical for increasing their specific properties, such as antibacterial properties, flexibility, tensile strength, shear strength, toughness, etc. This paper presented a new type of keratin-chitosan biofilms with the separation of keratin from waste chi ...More

The preparation, characterization, and electrooxidation of colloidal palladium modified poly(methacrylic acid) hydrogel as formic acid fuel cell anode catalyst

Nahit AKTAŞ

At present, poly(methacrylic acid) (MA), poly(MA) hydrogel, and Pd-doped poly(MA) hydrogel modified electrodes are constructed on graphite pencil (G). The Pd precursor is coated on the poly(MA)/G electrodes surface using the electrodeposition method. These electrodes are characterized by thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-ray. Poly(MA) hydrogel and Pd-doped poly(MA) hydrogel are successfully prepared by the polymerization and further electrodeposition. Formic acid electro-oxidation (FAEO) activities ar ...More

Effect of ketoprofen on intravenous pharmacokinetics of ganciclovir in chukar partridges (Alectoris chukar)

Ayday CUNUŞOVA

The aim of the study was to determine the effect of ketoprofen (2 mg/kg) on the intravenous pharmacokinetics of ganciclovir (10 mg/kg) in chukar partridges (Alectoris chukar). Eight clinically healthy partridges were used in the study. The study was performed in two periods using a cross-over design following a 15-day drug washout period. Plasma concentrations of ganciclovir were determined using the high-pressure liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detector and analyzed by non-compartmental analysis. The elimination half-life (t(1/2 lambda z)), area under the concentration-time curve (AUC(0-inf ...More
