Synthesis of Smart Food Packaging from Poly (Gelatin-co-Dimethyl Acrylamide). Citric Acid-Red Apple peel Extract

Nahit AKTAŞ

A novel and smart hydrogel was synthesized from N, N dimethyl acrylamide (DMAAm), gelatin, and citric acid (CA) red apple peel extract (RApE) to be utilized as a multi-functional food packaging material. The p(Gelatin-co-DMAAm)/CA-RApE was prepared through a redox polymerization technique in film form in petri dishes. Mechanical and water resistance of the p(Gelatin-co-DMAAm)/CA-RApE was improved by the addition of citric acid and N, N, methylenebisacrylamide (MBA) as cross linker. The characterization of p(Gelatin-co-DMAAm)/CA-RApE was carried out by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (F ...More

Polyaniline-coated charcoal ash: a novel high-capacity adsorbent for removal of thiocyanate ions from aqueous solutions

Mehmet KOBYA

Removal of thiocyanate (SCN-), which is widely used in many industrial processes is of concern due to this toxicity. In this work, the potential of polyaniline-coated charcoal ash (PANI-CCA) as a low-cost and efficient adsorbent was evaluated in order to remove thiocyanate ions from aqueous solution. Morphologies and chemical composition of the PANI-CCAhave been examined by using scanning electron microscopy and X-ray fluorescence spectrometry (XRD). Batch experiments were performed to examine the effects of operating conditions such as pH (6.0-10.0), ash dosage (0-0.30 g/50 ml), initial dye c ...More

Electromagnetic characterization of strong-coupled Omega-type bianisotropic metamaterials using the state transition matrix method

Mehmet ERTUĞRUL

A feasible extraction procedure is proposed to retrieve the diagonal tensor elements of the permittivity and permeability, and the magnetoelectric coupling coefficient of Omega-type biansiotropic metamaterials (MMs). The procedure is based on the state transition matrix approach and uses non-iterative closed-form expressions between constitutive parameters and scattering (S-) parameters to achieve such determination using S-parameters for normal incidence and oblique incidence of TE and TM modes (a desirable feature from practical point of view). S-parameter simulations of a bianisotropic MM s ...More

Exploring Landscape Archaeology and UAV-Based Survey in the Kochkor Valley, Kyrgyzstan

Kubatbek TABALDİYEV

From the earliest archaeological investigations along Central Asia's Tien Shan range, researchers have noted the diversity of highland communities and their participation in complex subsistence, exchange, and political systems. However, landscape archaeological approaches that might address socio-economic integrations have been limited by discontinuous, sometimes skewed datasets. Here, we present the results of UAV-based survey at Kok-Sai, an upland alluvial slope in the Kochkor Valley of north-central Kyrgyzstan, in which we identified more than 900 archaeological features in a 380 ha study a ...More
