A Singularly Perturbed System of Parabolic Equations

Asan ÖMÜRALİEV | Peyil Esengul Kızı

The work is devoted to the construction of the asymptotic behavior of the solution of a singularly perturbed system of equations of parabolic type, in the case when the limit equation has a regular singularity as the small parameter tends to zero. The asymptotics of the solution of such problems contains boundary layer functions.

Control of Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) in open field tomato crops using the mating disruption technique

Tair Esenalı Uulu

This study was conducted in Meram district of Konya province (Turkey) in 2018 and 2019 to evaluate the efficacy of mating disruption against the tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta in an open-field tomato growing area. Three pheromone-treated fields and three control fields were used to evaluate the effectiveness of mating disruption in both years. In pheromone-treated fields, mating disruption pheromone was applied once at a rate of 2500 g/ha with a caulking gun. In control fields, only pheromone traps were hung for monitoring and comparing the pest population. Male captures in monitoring pheromo ...More

Faber polynomials with common zero

Fahreddin ABDULLAYEV | Meerim İmaş Kızı

We describe the set of meromorphic univalent functions in the class Σ, for which the sequence of the Faber polynomials {Fj}∞j=1 have the roots with following properties |Fn(z0)|>0=∑j=1j≠n|Fj(z0)|. For such functions we found an explicit form of the Faber polynomials as well as we discussed some properties.

Synthesis and Characterization of Hydroxypropyl Acorn Starch (HPAS) From Oak Acorn

Mustafa DOLAZ

The utilization of forest auxiliary products and their conversion into products with higher added value is important for the use of renewable resources. For this purpose, acorns belonging to the Q. coccifera species were collected in November, which is their ripening period, and dried and ground in the laboratory. Then, acorn starch (AS) was isolated from the sieved acorn flour. For 5 g of this isolated AS, hydroxypropyl acorn starch (HPAS) with the highest molar substitution (MS = 0.319) was synthesized by optimizing at 45 degrees C for 5 h with 30 g of propylene oxide and 1.88 g of NaOH. The ...More

Genetic characterization of Erwinia amylovora isolates detected in the wild walnut-fruit forest of South Kyrgyzstan

Tinatin DOOLOTKELDİEVA | Saykal BOBUŞOVA

Erwinia amylovora, the causal agent of fire blight, was first reported in Kyrgyz orchards in 2008 and, within a few years, the disease has spread throughout most of the northern part of the country. As fire blight expanded and penetrated new areas, it also reached the unique ecosystem constituted by the Arslonbob wild walnut-fruit forests in South Kyrgyzstan. Here, we present the results of field surveys in the forests and in the nearby orchards and gardens of the Jalal-Abad region during the 2019 season. Further, we use genetic profiling of the CRISPR regions to compare the genotypes of the o ...More

Evaluation of the biological activities of olivetoric acid, a lichen-derived molecule, in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells

Ali ASLAN

Many lichen secondary metabolites contributed to the field of pharmacology as an active ingredient of different drugs for years. In the present study, we aimed to test the anticancer activity of olivetoric acid (OA), which we isolated from Pseudevernia furfuracea (L.) Zopf in human hepatocellular carcinoma cells (HepG2). In addition, we used non-tumoral human liver cells (THLE2) to test the level of side effects of OA in vitro. For this purpose, cytotoxic (apoptotic and necrotic), oxidant, genotoxic activities and expression levels of apoptotic genes caused by different concentrations (12.5-40 ...More

Fabrication of Carbon-Doped Titanium Dioxide Nanotubes as Anode Materials for Photocatalytic Glucose Fuel Cells

Nahit AKTAŞ | Ali Osman SOLAK

In the present work, TiO2 nanotubes (TNT) and carbon-doped TiO2 nanotubes (C-TNT) were produced via the anodization method. Carbon doping was performed on TNT in a tubular oven employing two different 15 cm3/min total flow rates with varying compositions of acetylene (C2H2) and argon (Ar) as VC2H2/Ar = 7/93 (1 cm3/min C2H2   14 cm3/min Ar) for C-TNT (7:93) and VC2H2/Ar = 33/67 (5 cm3/min C2H2   10 cm3/min Ar) for C-TNT (33:67). The synthesized C-doped TNT was characterized by x-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). XRD, Raman spectra, and SEM result ...More

Parabolic Problem with a Power-Law Boundary Layer

Asan ÖMÜRALİEV | Ella ABILAYEVA | Peyil Esengul Kızı

We construct a regularized asymptotics of the solution of the first boundary value problem for a singularly perturbed two-dimensional differential equation of the parabolic type for the case in which the limit equation has a regular singularity. There arise power-law and corner boundary layers along with parabolic ones in such problems.

Development of Urea Uptake and Release Studies Using N, N-Dimethylacrylamide/Maleic Acid/Citric Acid Based Macrogel

Nahit AKTAŞ

Recently, the use of polymers in agricultural and horticultural applications has been seen as a solution to reduce water consumption and excess fertilizer use in particularly. In this study, macrogels were synthesized to allow fertilizer species and water to be controlled and released in the soil. A natural macrogel derived from N,N-Dimethylacrylamide (DMAAm), Maleic Acid (MA) and Citric Acid (CA) was selected because of its ability to absorb/release a large amount of water and to have modifiable functional groups. Urea, which is an abundant source of nitrogen, was chosen to model the fertiliz ...More

Investigation of the prebiotic potential of rice varieties for Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria

Canıl İSKAKOVA

This study investigated the interaction of rice flour and two local strains of Lactobacillus acidophilus bacteria (LAB) from Kyrgyzstan used for the modification of a functional product for infant nutrition. White rice 2?/w and a local variety of brown rice 2?/w were used as prebiotic ingredients. The fermentation time of the samples ranged from 257 to 270 min to reduce the pH from 6.5 to 4.6. In the control product with 4?w/w) sugar the fermentation was faster (257 min), however, gel setting G
