Effect of human development level of countries on the web accessibility and quality in use of their municipality websites

Rita İSMAİLOVA

This study aimed to explore the relationship between human development index (HDI) of countries and level of web accessibility and quality in use of their municipality websites. A list of 146 countries was obtained from the 2016 Global Human Development Report of the United Nations. Of these countries, 49 had a very high HDI, 42 had a high HDI, 33 had a medium HDI, and 22 had a low HDI. For the analysis of web accessibility and quality in use, the official municipality websites of capital cities of each country were found. These websites were tested using automated evaluation tools. The result ...More

Characterization and pathogenicity of Rhizoctonia isolates collected from Brassica oleracea var. acephala in Ordu, Turkey

İsmail ERPER

A total of 30 Rhizoctonia isolates were collected from plants with Rhizoctonia-like symptoms in kale growing areas in Ordu province during the 2014-2015 growing seasons. All the isolates were identified using nuclear staining tecnique and the nucleotide sequence analysis of the nuclear rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS)1-5.8S-ITS2 region. The most prevalent anastomosis group (AG) was AG 2-1 (36.67?f isolates), followed by AG-A (30? AG 4 HG-I (10? AG 5 (6.67? AG-Fb (6.67? AG-E (6.67?and AG-K (3.33? Cultural characteristics showed that randomly selected RsCB-13 (AG 2-1), RsCB-20 (AG 4 HG-I), ...More

Efficacy of the entomopathogenic fungi; Beauveria bassiana and Metarhizium anisopliae against the cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae)

İsmail ERPER

The efficacy of the two entomopathogenic fungi, Metarhizium anisopliae (TR 106) and Beauveria bassiana (TR 217), was tested against the adults of the cowpea weevil, Callosobruchus maculatus F. (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae: Bruchinae) in laboratory. Two concentrations of conidial suspensions (1 x 10(6) and 1 x 10(8) conidia/ml) of M. anisopliae and B. bassiana isolates were directly applied on four pairs of adult beetles in Petri dishes (2 ml/dish) and then incubated at two different climatic regimes; 22 +/- 1 degrees C and 26 +/- 1 degrees C with 70 +/- 5% RH, 16:8 h light-to-dark. Lethal time v ...More

A System of Singularly Perturbed Parabolic Equations with a Power Boundary Layer

Asan ÖMÜRALİEV | Ella ABILAYEVA | Peyil Esengul Kızı

The work is devoted to the construction of the asymptotics of the solution of a singularly perturbed system of equations of parabolic type, in the case when the limit equation has a regular singularity as the small parameter tends to zero. The asymptotics of the solution of such problems contains, along with parabolic boundary layer functions, and power boundary layer functions.

Gene transfer to plants by electroporation: methods and applications

İbrahim İlker ÖZYİĞİT

Developing gene transfer technologies enables the genetic manipulation of the living organisms more efficiently. The methods used for gene transfer fall into two main categories; natural and artificial transformation. The natural methods include the conjugation, transposition, bacterial transformation as well as phage and retroviral transductions, contain the physical methods whereas the artificial methods can physically alter and transfer genes from one to another organisms

Investigation of nutritional characteristics and free radical scavenging activity of wild apple, pear, rosehip, and barberry from the walnut-fruit forests of Kyrgyzstan

Canıl İSKAKOVA | Cıldız ÖSKÖNBAEVA

This study is based on 2-year experimental results aimed at evaluating the nutritional value and pomological characteristics of wild fruits and berries from the walnut-fruit forests of southern Kyrgyzstan including apple (Malus sieversii var. kirgizorum), pear (Pyrus korshinskyi Litv.), rosehip (Rosa canina), or barberry (Berberis oblonga). Wild pear, characterised by its high level of alimentary fibres (8.76 g/100 g), offers a promising potential for industrial pectin production. Barberry features higher radical scavenging activity (antioxidant activity) as compared to Iranian and Turkish eco ...More

Kyrgyz learners' and teachers' experiences and perceptions related to ICT use in high school courses

Bakıt BORKOYEV | Kalıypa SALİYEVA | Gülşat MUHAMETJANOVA

The increasing use of ICT in education results in advantages for teaching and learning processes. In countries, especially in developing ones, it is essential to examine stakeholders' experiences and perceptions about ICT use in the courses. In this regard, this study firstly aims to investigate ICT use of Kyrgyz learners and teachers. Secondly, the study aims to examine learners' and teachers' perceptions with regard to ICT use in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) courses in high schools in the Kyrgyz Republic. In the context of the study, two different questionnaires w ...More
