Günümüzde Moğolistan’daki Ulangom bölgesinde sayısı az olan Hoton adlı türkçe konuşan topluluk yaşamaktadır. Köken olarak kendilerini Kırgızlar’a yakın gören Hotonlar’ın sayısı günümüzde 10 000den fazladır. Hala Moğollaşmakta olan bu topluluk buna rağmen Müslümanlardırlar. Hotonlar etnik bakımından Doğu Türkistandaki Hoten bölgesinde yaşayan Uygurlara benzetilemez (ele alınamaz), çünkü onlar kendilerini Kırgızlar olarak kabul etmekteler: “Biz Kırgızlarız, Kün-Ker’in torunlarıyız”. “Kün-Ker”- Tibetçede “Türk” demektir.
