Morphometric development and changes in the growth and development dynamics of Japanese quail populations bred in Kyrgyzstan

Askarbek TÜLÖBAEV | Hasan ALPAK

The purpose of the present study was to determine the live weight development phases from hatchling to adolescent bird of Japanese quails bred in Kyrgyzstan, and to determine the age-related changes in body measurements. Adolescent birds were found to have a body length (distance between first vertebra thoracalis to end of sacrum) coefficient of 3.0, a sternum front to rear end length coefficient of 3.3, a tibia length of 2.34, and a pelvic width (distance between right and left acetabulum) coefficient of 1.58. This indicates good development of the quails Keywords: Growth and development, liv ...More

Modeling of simultaneous heat and mass transfer during convective oven ring cake baking

Coşkan ILICALI

The convective oven ring cake baking process was investigated experimentally and numerically as a simultaneous heat and mass transfer process. The mathematical model described previously by the authors for cup cake baking was modified to simulate ring cake baking. The heat and mass transfer mechanisms were defined by Fourier’s and Fick’s second laws, respectively. The implicit alternating direction finite difference technique was used for the numerical solution of the representative model. Prior to the utilization of the developed model in predicting the temperature and moisture profiles for r ...More

Effects of Aflatoxin on Some Haematological Parameters and Protective Effectiveness of Esterified Glucomannan in Merino Rams

Nurcan DÖNMEZ | Hasan Hüseyin DÖNMEZ | İhsan KISADERE

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the toxic effects of aflatoxin on some hematological parameters and to determine the preventive effectiveness of added glucomannan. In the study, 32 Merino rams were used, and the rams were separated equally to four groups as control (C), glucomannan (G), glucomannan + aflatoxin (AG), and aflatoxin (A). Erythrocyte, leukocyte count, hemoglobin, and hematocrit levels were decreased in A group compared with the other groups, and there was a reduction in similar parameters in AG group compared to control values. On the other hand, these parameter ...More

Effects of Glucomannan on the Sacculus Rotundus and Peripheral Blood Lymphocytes in New Zealand Rabbits during Aflatoxicosis

Hasan Hüseyin DÖNMEZ

This study was aimed to determine the effects of the glucomannan added to aflatoxin- (AF-) contaminated diet on the sacculus rotundus and peripheral blood lymphocytes of New Zealand rabbits by histological and enzyme histochemical methods. Twenty-four adult rabbits of both sexes were divided into four equal groups, namely, as control, glucomannan 0.2 g/day, AF 125 μg/kg/day, and glucomannan combined with AF. The animals in all groups were treated for 12 weeks by the above-mentioned diet. When compared to control, AF-treatment caused significant decrease in alpha-naphthyl acetate esterase- (ANA ...More

Wheat genetic resources in Kyrgyzstan = Генофонд пшеницы Кыргызстана

Mira CUNUSOVA

The demand determinants for urban public transport services: A review of the literature

Cihat POLAT

The future always includes some degree of uncertainty and reducing it is of special importance for decision makers. This is also valid for the decision makers in the public transport area. The uncertainty in the future demand and the need to know the factors that influence the demand make the area much interested in by the decision makers for the sake of planning and making right decisions. In this sense, knowing about the demand driving factors and determining future demand for public transport services are very basic managerial instincts for those who perform in the area. However, the subjec ...More

Experimental analysis of polypropylene fibre mixed adobe

Mustafa Haluk ÇELİK | Mahmut DURMAZ

The aim of this study is to search some mechanical features of polypropylene fibre mixed adobe. As fibre additive polypropylene, in proportions of 0%, 5%, 10%, 15%, soil with 26% clay and 7 kg straw per cubic meter were mixed and mixture with adobe was prepared. As a result the compressive strengths of the polypropylene fibre mixed samples were determined as 40 kgf/cýrf in %0, 26.55 kgf/cm in 5%, 31.62 kgf/cm2 in 10%,37.35 kgf/cm2 in 15%; tensile strengths as 13.76 kgf/cm2 in 0%, 45.80 kgf/cm2 in 5%, 46.90 kgf/cm2 in 10%, 47.20 kgf/cm2 in 15%; heat conduction values as 0.58 kcal/mh°c in 0%, 0. ...More

The Effect of FDI on Foreign Trade: A Panel Analysis = Doğrudan yabancı sermaye yatırımların dış ticaret üzerindeki etkisi: Panel veri analizi

İdris SARISOY

The purpose of this paper is to determine the effect of inward and outward foreign direct investments (FDI) on foreign trade (FT) using panel regression analysis. To this end, 143 coun-tries, which were classified into 5 different development groups according per capita in-come, were subject to 4 separate analyses using FDI and FT data between the years 1980 and 2009. This study concludes that inward and outward FDI affects trade volume at different rates according to a country’s development level. However, imports and exports appear to be more sensitive to FDI in less developed countries. - ...More
