Artificial Neural Network Model for Evaluating Parameters of Reflection-Asymmetric Samples From Reference-Plane-Invariant Measurements

Mehmet ERTUĞRUL

A technique based on artificial neural network (ANN) is proposed to extract the electromagnetic properties of reflection-asymmetric samples from reference-plane-invariant (RPI) scattering parameter measurements. It first determines reference plane transformation distances and then extracts the material properties. The number of neurons in the hidden layer of the ANN model was evaluated subject to accuracy and time constraints. We examined the conformity of the dataset of the ANN model and the required time for the training process by considering different numbers of neurons in the selected hid ...More

Synthesis, characterization and coating properties of carboxymethyl cellulose from sock production wastes

Nurzat ŞAYKİYEVA | Kubat KEMELOV | Mirlan MOLDOBAYEV | Canıl İSKAKOVA | Mustafa DOLAZ

This study aims to evaluate and reuse defective products and cotton wastes resulting from factories producing socks in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, in order to solve the issues related to their disposal. For this purpose, microcrystalline cellulose (MCC) was obtained after isolating the cellulose from these wastes by treating them with sulfuric acid solutions. Then, under constant NaOH and monochloroacetic acid (MCA), CMC with the highest DS value of (0.65) was synthesized at 65 degrees C for 2 hours. When the reaction time was increased (3, 4 and 5 hours) at the same temperature, the DS value decreas ...More

An assessment of eco hotel practices and green marketing perceptions: An eco-labelling model proposal for hotels in Kyrgyzstan

Mustafa Murat KIZANLIKLI | Narıngül MARGAZİYEVA | Kımbat ASANOVA | İbrahim GÜNDOĞDU

The growing relevance of green marketing, sustainability and eco-labels is indisputable fact in the hospitality industry. These concepts are based on the philosophy of caring for the Earth and not only save the environment, but also enhance the image and market value of enterprises. Despite the fact that since the 1970s eco-labels in the hospitality industry began to gain momentum in the different countries, but Kyrgyzstan lagged behind in this matter. In this study, a national eco-certificate model proposal was developed that would take into account the geographical and cultural characteristi ...More

Energy consumption and economic growth: The case of transition economies

Hakan ÇETİNTAŞ

This study investigates the causality relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in 17 transition countries, which are Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyz Republic, Latvia, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Ukraine, and Georgia. Empirical findings indicate that there is unidirectional causality from economic growth to energy consumption in the long run. The results support for conservation hypothesis suggests that energy conservation policies have no effect on economic growth. They can simultaneously a ...More

Protective effect of esterified glucomannan on aflatoxin-induced changes in testicular function, sperm quality, and seminal plasma biochemistry in rams

Nurcan DÖNMEZ

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of aflatoxin (AF) on spermatologic, biochemical, and testis parameters in rams, and the protective efficiency of esterified glucomannan (EG) co-administered with AF. Thirty-two Merino rams (12–14 months old) were used. The experimental design consisted of four dietary treatments. The control group was fed commercial feed. The AF group was fed with commercial feed plus 250 μg/d of total AF. The EG group received commercial feed plus 2 g/d of EG. The AF + EG group was given commercial feed plus 250 μg/d of total AF and 2 g/d of EG. There were tre ...More

Modeling of simultaneous heat and mass transfer during convective oven ring cake baking

Coşkan ILICALI

The convective oven ring cake baking process was investigated experimentally and numerically as a simultaneous heat and mass transfer process. The mathematical model described previously by the authors for cup cake baking was modified to simulate ring cake baking. The heat and mass transfer mechanisms were defined by Fourier’s and Fick’s second laws, respectively. The implicit alternating direction finite difference technique was used for the numerical solution of the representative model. Prior to the utilization of the developed model in predicting the temperature and moisture profiles for r ...More

Determination of Moisture Transport Parameters of Some Fruits Under Open Sun Drying Conditions

İnci Türk TOĞRUL | Hasan TOĞRUL

In order to determine the behavior of fruits during drying under natural conditions, open sun drying experiments were conducted on apricots, grapes, peaches, figs, and plums. The drying rate curves of these fruit did not contain constant rate period, but showed a falling rate period. In the present work, Biot numbers and the mass transfer characteristics—namely moisture diffusivity and moisture transfer coefficient—of selected fruits were evaluated by drying coefficients (S) and lag factors (G). The experimental results exhibited mass transfer Biot numbers in the range of 0.115–0.158, thus ind ...More

Regular Flow Field Sparse Processing and Blue Finance of Ocean City Research Based on GIS System

In order to explore the development path of blue finance in ocean cities, this paper combines GIS to conduct blue finance research in ocean cities, draws on the traditional direct visualization method of point icons, and uses arrow symbols to render vector flow field data. Moreover, this paper uses GIS means to perform statistical analysis on flow field data, studies the adaptive sparse algorithm of flow field data spatial structure based on GIS, and proposes a program implementation method for regular flow field sparse processing suitable for the general flow of the sparse algorithm. The expe ...More

The Safe Financial Processing Method for Realizing Supply Chain Integrated Business Intelligence Using Blockchain Application Scenarios

In order to improve the financial processing effect of supply chain integrated business intelligence, this study applies blockchain technology to the financial processing of supply chain integrated business intelligence and conducts an evolutionary game analysis on the factors that affect the selection of information-sharing strategies for logistic service supply chain nodes. By establishing the evolutionary game model of logistic service integrators and logistic service providers under the strategy of information sharing and information nonsharing, the value of information sharing in the logi ...More

Management of Power Marketing Audit Work Based on Tobit Model and Big Data Technology

In order to improve the management effect of power marketing audit work, this paper combines big data technology to carry out related data processing, changes the management mode of traditional power marketing audit work, analyzes the overall process and characteristics of the current power marketing audit case selection, and designs an audit system. Moreover, this paper builds a data warehouse based on data mining technology and realizes the process of automatic generation of the index system. In addition, this paper chooses the Tobit model proposed by Tobin, which is a restricted dependent v ...More

Direct and inverse approximation theorems of functions in the Orlicz type spaces S-M

Fahreddin ABDULLAYEV

In the Orlicz type spaces S-M, we prove direct and inverse approximation theorems in terms of the best approximations of functions and moduli of smoothness of fractional order. We also show the equivalence between moduli of smoothness and Peetre K-functionals in the spaces S-M. (C) 2019 Mathematical Institute Slovak Academy of Sciences

Economic Impacts of Bt (Bacillus thuringiensis) Cotton

İbrahim İlker ÖZYİĞİT

In recent years, high-yield production has gained importance due to the decrease in agricultural fields in the world and the rapid increase in the population. Cotton is an important source of income for farmers worldwide and is an important crop, especially for the textile industry. Bt-cotton technology, which entered our lives in 1996, has been quickly adopted in many developed and developing countries. It has been shown to provide advantages in many areas. In particular, the economic growth is gaining importance every year. Additionally, it has also brought an environmentally friendly soluti ...More
