Educational Metaphors: High School Students' Perceptions of Schools in Kyrgyzstan

Kişimcan EŞENKULOVA | Kadiyan BOOBEKOVA

Focusing on the case study of post-Soviet Kyrgyzstan, this article examines high school students' perception of their schools and education by using metaphors. A total of 1433 high school students participated in this research. Based on the data that we collected from 9th and 10th grade students during field research (January - February 2020) in various regions of Kyrgyzstan and analysed students' answers about their schools. The findings show that the study's participants produced 178 metaphors about their schools. The participants used 102 positive, 108 negative metaphors and 32 metaphors fo ...More

Innovative technologies in educational process of teaching computer graphics

Zamirgül KAZAKBAYEVA

The purpose of this article is to show the importance of the application and use innovative technologies in educational process. This article considers the problems of teaching 2D- and 3D-computer graphics technologies in the higher educational institutions. Support of independent works of students for project creation. The paper also presents personal original video tutorials developed in the Kyrgyz-Turkish University Manas and shares the experience of video lessons creation. However, one of the main problems at secondary schools and higher educational institutions is the lack of video lesson ...More

University Learners’ Motivation and Experiences Using Virtual Laboratories in a Physics Course

Azat AKMATBEKOVA | Gülşat MUHAMETJANOVA

It is becoming necessary to examine learners’ use of and experiences with virtual laboratories. Learners’ interest and motivation to use virtual laboratories are important factors for the success of these platforms. This study was conducted to analyze Kyrgyz learners’ use of virtual laboratories in a physics course at the university level. The study was performed in the 2019–2020 spring term at a state university in Kyrgyzstan. The study took a quantitative approach, with 376 Kyrgyz learner participants studying at the undergraduate level. The participants were divided into three groups: the f ...More

On the solvability of a nonlinear optimization problem with boundary vector control of oscillatory processes = О разрешимости задачи нелинейной оптимизации при граничном векторном управлении колебательными процессами = Тербелмелi процестердi шекаралық векторлық басқарумен сызықтыемес оңтайландыру есебiнiң шешiмi туралы

Elmira ABDILDAYEVA

In the paper, the solvability of the nonlinear boundary optimization problem has been investigated for the oscillation processes, described by the integro-differential equation in partial derivatives with Fredholm integral operator. It has been established that the components of the boundary vector control are defined as a solution to a system of nonlinear integral equations of a specific form, and the equations of this system have the property of equal relations. An algorithm for constructing a solution to the problem of nonlinear optimization has been developed. Keywords: general solution; n ...More

SOLUTION OF RATIONAL DIFFERENCE EQUATION

Burak OĞUL

The behavior of the solutions of the following system of difference equations is examined, [Formula Presented] where the initial conditions are positive real numbers. The initial conditions of the equation are arbitrary positive real numbers. Also, we discuss and illustrate the stability of the solutions in the neighborhood of the critical points and the periodicity of the considered equations. Keyword: limit; Rational difference equation; solution; stability

A Qualitative Research on Unethical Authorship in Scientific Research Bilimsel Araştırmalarda Haksız Yazarlık ile İlgili Nitel Bir Araştırma

Kürşad YILMAZ

One of the unethical behaviors related to scientific research and publication ethics is unethical authorshippractices. It is purposed to determine the opinions of academicians about unethical authorship in this study. There were 49 academics in the study group of research, in which the basic qualitative research design was used. Data were collected with a semi-structured interview form. Descriptive analysis and, content analysis was used in the analysis of the data. More than half of the participants did not take any course or training on scientific research and publication ethics during their ...More

A new binary genetic programming approach to designing public transportation systems according to transit-oriented development criteria

Hasan YILMAZ

This study introduces a new evolutionary approach called Binary Genetic Programming (BGP) to design and assess public transportation systems from a sustainable development perspective. The BGP combines evolutionary system identi cation techniques with k-fold cross-validation to obtain an accurate model between the land use and transportation parameters from a sustainable urban development point of view. To assess the new model, two public transportation systems including the new tram line of Antalya (Turkey) and the bus rapid transit line of Bhopal (India) were considered. The model was employ ...More

The solvability of the optimal control problem for a nonlinear Schrödinger equation

Ercan ÇELİK

In this paper, we analyze the solvability of the optimal control problem for a nonlinear Schrodinger equation. A Lions-type functional is considered as the objective functional. First, it is shown that the optimal control problem has at least one solution. Later, the Frechet differentiability of the objective functional is proved and a formula is obtained for its gradient. Finally, a necessary optimality condition is derived. Keywords: frechet differentiability; optimal control problem; optimality conditions; schrödinger equation

Using information and communication technologies for the assessment of a large number of students

Kasım BARIKTABASOV | Çinara CUMABAYEVA | Ulan BRİMKULOV

Many examinations with thousands of participating students are organized world-wide every year. Usually, this large number of students sit the exams simulta-neously and answer almost the same set of questions. This method of learning assessment requires tremendous effort and resources to prepare the venues, print question books and organize the whole process. Additional restrictions and obsta-cles may appear in conditions similar to those during the COVID-19 pandemic. One way to obviate the necessity of having all the students take an exam during the same period of time is to use a computer-as ...More
