Immune compatibility between mare and foal is one of the important topics of reproductive immunology. At this point, although there are many studies on antibodies, there are not many publications on the relationship between the cytokine levels of mare, foal and milk and the effects of milk composition on this relationship. Here we investigate the relationship between Th1/Th2 cytokine balance and milk composition in Kyrgyz mares and foals. Samples were taken soon after the foal was born and on days 5, 10 and 20 after birth. Th1 (IFN-γ, IL-2, TNF-α) and Th2 (IL-4, IL-5, IL-10) cytokine levels in ...More
This study aimed to compare three ways of FSH administration [single-dose subcutaneous (sc) using an adjuvant, single-dose epidural without an adjuvant and the conventional intramuscular (i.m) repeated decreasing doses] on blood FSH levels and superovulation response. Holstein cows (n:18) were divided into three groups for the superovulation procedure (n6). The animals in group (1) received intramuscular (im) decreasing doses of FSH (Stimufol, 500 mu g porcine FSH and 100 mu g porcine LH, Ulg FMV, Liege, Belgium) at 12-h intervals for 4 d. The animals in group (2) received FSH (500 mu g) into ...More

Canine hepatozoonosis is a tick-borne protozoan disease and widespread in Europe, Africa, Asia and America. There is not any available data about the presence of Hepatozoon infections in dogs in Kyrgyzstan. In the study we aimed that investigate the presence of Hepatozoon canis and the prevalance of Hepatozoon infections in dogs from Kyrgyzstan using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and sequence analysis. To determine the prevelance of hepatozoonosis in dogs, a total of 170 blood samples were applied to PCR to amplify a fragment of 666 bp found in 185 SSU rRNA gene of Hepatozoon spp. The PCR re ...More
The aim of the study was to determine the effect of ketoprofen (2 mg/kg) on the intravenous pharmacokinetics of ganciclovir (10 mg/kg) in chukar partridges (Alectoris chukar). Eight clinically healthy partridges were used in the study. The study was performed in two periods using a cross-over design following a 15-day drug washout period. Plasma concentrations of ganciclovir were determined using the high-pressure liquid chromatography-ultraviolet detector and analyzed by non-compartmental analysis. The elimination half-life (t(1/2 lambda z)), area under the concentration-time curve (AUC(0-inf ...More

Mycoplasma haemocanis (Mhc) and Candidatus Mycoplasma haematoparvum (CMhp) have been investigated using species specific PCR and sequencing in 170 dogs from Kyrgyzstan. Maximum likelihood estimation (MLE) of the infection rates with 95% confidence intervals (CI) was calculated. The molecular prevalence of hemoplasma infection was 5.29% (CI 2.57-9.34). It was found that, five (2.94%, CI 1.06-6.22) samples were found to be infected with Mhc, one (0.59%, CI 0.03-2.57) sample with CMhp and three (1.76%, CI 0.44-4.52) samples with both species. These results demonstrate that dogs can be exposed to ...More
The aim of this study was to evaluate the intestinal and cardiac biomarkers in the determination of intestinal and cardiac damage in dogs with parvoviral enteritis. The material of this study consisted of 10 healthy dogs (control group) and 30 dogs with parvoviral enteritis (experimental group) admitted to the Department of Internal Medicine, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Selcuk University.
Serum samples were extracted from the collected blood samples taken from vena cephalica venipuncture for analysis of blood gases, haemogram and to measure the levels of intestinal-fatty acid-binding prot ...More
The pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of furosemide were determined following intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), and subcutaneous (SC) administrations at 2.5 mg/kg dose in sheep. The study was conducted on six healthy sheep in a three-way, three-period, crossover pharmacokinetic design with a 15-day washout period. In first period, furosemide was randomly administered via IV to 2 sheep, IM to 2 sheep and SC to 2 sheep. In second and third periods, each sheep received furosemide via different routes of administration with the 15-day washout period. Plasma concentrations were determined us ...More
