In 2016, Anoplophora chinensis (Forster, 1771) (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) was recorded for the first time on Acer negundo L. in Antalya Province, Turkey. Genetic identification of adult samples was made based on approximate alignment of a 729-bp sequence of the mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase I gene region. The sequence alignment in the BLAST analysis from the NCBI Genbank showed 99% similarity with A. chinensis. The sequence data was deposited to NCBI Genbank. A phylogenetic analysis was performed by using the sequence data belonging to A. chinensis and some species of same genus obtained fr ...More
Tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is one of the most important pests that cause yield and quality loss in tomato cultivation in greenhouse and open field. 7'. absoluta, has spread rapidly in tomato production areas after emerging to Turkey in 2009. The pest is widely found along growing season in greenhouses and open fields in the coastal part of Antalya, where suitable climatic conditions are present. However, the population status of T. absoluta in tomato cultivation in greenhouses under high altitude highland conditions is not known and the study has been handled for this purpose. th ...More
The whitefly Bemisia tabaci (Gennadius) (Hemiptera, Aleyrodidae) is one of the most crucial agricultural pests in tropical and subtropical regions. The pest is a species complex which contain morphologically indistinguishable biotypes or genetic groups. The aim of the present study is to examine B. tabaci populations collected from Aydin, Antalya, Mersin, Adana and Hatay regions in 2004 and 2005. Prior to analysis, as the first step, the biotypes were determined by considering molecular differences among populations. In addition, the differences among populations were determined by means of bi ...More
The cotton whitefly (Bemisia tabaci Genn.) is a major pest of cultivated plants in tropical and subtropical regions. In this study, the genetic diversity between populations and various biotypes of B. tabaci collected from Hatay, Adana, Icel, Antalya, Mugla, Aydin and Denizli provinces of Turkey were investigated using mitochondrial cytochrome oxidase subunit 1 (mtCOI) sequences. Thirty-two nucleotide variations were found in a 617 bp mtCOI sequence of the among the populations studied. Phylogenetic analysis divided the B. tabaci populations of Turkey into two groups clustering around the main ...More
In this study, the resistance status to imidacloprid, lambda-cyhalothrin and endosulfan of twenty Bemisia tabaci (Genn.) populations collected in Hatay, Adana, Mersin, Antalya, Mugla, Aydin and Denizli provinces in the Mediterranean and Aegean regions of Turkey in 2005-2006 were investigated. The lethal concentration (LC) values for each population were determined by the leaf dipping method. The resistance ratios were calculated by dividing the LC50 values of the populations by the LC50 values of a susceptible population. The LC50 values of the B. tabaci populations to imidacloprid, lambda-cyh ...More
