Identification of Microbial Populations Present in Agricultural and Nonarable Soils in the Talas Valley, Northern Kyrgyzstan, in Autumn

Tinatin DOOLOTKELDİEVA | Saykal BOBUŞOVA | Mahabat KONURBAYEVA

Soil bacterial and fungal communities were investigated in relation to soil type and farm management practices after vegetation harvesting in autumn. Soils from fields cultivated with Phaseolus vulgaris (bean) and Pyrus comminus (pear) and nonarable, natural areas were studied. Microbial diversity was analysed using cultivation-dependent methods (isolation of pure cultures) and cultivation-independent methods (direct extraction of DNA from soil, followed by PCR amplification of the 16S rRNA and 18S rRNA genes). The use of cultivation-dependent methods revealed that there were no differences in ...More

Machine learning enabled the design of compact and efficient wavelength demultiplexing photonic devices

Mirbek TURDUEV

In this paper, we introduce the design approach of integrated photonic devices by employing reinforcement learning known as attractor selection (AttSel). Here, we combined 3D FDTD with AttSel algorithm, which is based on artificial neural networks, to achieve ultra-compact and highly efficient wavelength demultiplexers with low crosstalk such as. The presented devices consist of SOI materials, which are compatible with complementary MOS technology. Consequently, the reinforcement learning is successfully applied to design smaller and superior integrated photonic devices. Keyword: inverse desig ...More

Possibilities for Prediction And Evaluation of the Carbon Footprint in Furnace Fuel Oil Combustion in Medium- and Low-Power Boilers

Mirlan MOLDOBAYEV | Zarlık MAYMEKOV

To predict and evaluate the carbon footprint in the gas phase, furnace fuel oil oxidation in excess air (alpha factor 1.3) was studied over a wide temperature (T 298–3000 K, P 0.1 MPa). Equilibrium thermodynamic parameters (entropy, enthalpy, and internal energy) and the concentration distributions of C-, S-, N-, O-, and H-containing components and active particles in the gas phase were determined. Based on the total concentration distribution of C-, S-, N-, O-, and H-containing components and active particles in the gas phase, the weight content of carbon was calculated. Taking into account t ...More

Effects of some plant extracts on root-knot nematodes in vitro and in vivo conditions

İlker KEPENEKÇİ

One of the major pests of the vegetables, root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) (Tylenchina: Meloidogynidae) (RKNs) can cause economic losses by forming knots on the host plant roots. RKNs are more prevalent in the greenhouse vegetable growing areas of the coastal regions. In this study, the effects of plant extracts from five different plants; Capsicum frutescens, Hyoscyamus niger (Solanaceae), Melia azedarach (Meliaceae), Xanthium strumarium and Achillea wilhelmsii (Asteraceae) were evaluated against RKNs. In the first studies; the effects of plant extracts (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0 ...More
