Nomadic pastoralism and interaction zones (The case of pre-Soviet Kyrgyz pastoralism)

Baktıbek İSAKOV | Cıldız URMANBETOVA

This paper re-conceptualizes the four-seasonal cycling tradition of pre-Soviet Kyrgyz pastoralism, reconsidering the existing archival and oral materials. It argues that the summer quarters (zhailoo) in nomadic cycling were core contact zones for whole clan-based Kyrgyz community in pre-Soviet time whereas, the other winter, spring and autumn quarters remained in the margins. In addition, since all small and large nomadic groups from different regions were interacting in summer quarter, practicing the common language, ceremonies and traditions, this quarter also was preventing the emergence of ...More

Artvin and Its Districts Ancient History Researches in 2019 = 2019 Yılı Artvin ve İlçeleri Eski Çağ Tarihi Araştırmaları

Oktay ÖZGÜL | Alpaslan CEYLAN

Artvin has been one of the first stops of various peoples and cultures since earliest times, since it is located on the road from the Caucasus to Anatolia. Most of the surveys carried out so far have been directed to the Middle Ages of the region. As a result of the surveys carried out in Artvin and its districts in 2019 with the permission of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, centers that can shed light on the Bronze Age and nomadic culture of the region were identified. The survey in 2019 was carried out in the region covering centers, Arhavi-Demirkapn / Namazgah Rock Paintings, Yusufeli- ...More

A Nonlinear Panel ARDL Analysis of Pollution Haven/Halo Hypothesis

Zamira ÖSKÖNBAYEVA

There is a growing popularity for the nonlinear econometric approaches, since linkages among variables are not always linear. Nonlinear approaches provide a broader range of knowledge compared to the linear model. This research aims to assess the impact of foreign direct investment on pollution. To capture the potential asymmetries resulting from rise and fall in the foreign direct investments, the nonlinear panel autoregressive distributed lag approach is employed. In the empirical analysis, annual data of selected 22 transition economies from 1995 to 2016 is utilized. The findings highlighte ...More

Regularized Asymptotics of the Solution of Systems of Parabolic Differential Equations

Asan ÖMÜRALİEV | Ella ABILAYEVA

The regularization method for singularly perturbed problems of S. A. Lomov is generalized to constructing the asymptotics of the solution of the first boundary value problem for systems of differential equations of parabolic type with a small parameter at all derivatives. It is shown that the asymptotics of the solution of the problem contains n exponential, 2n parabolic and 2n angle boundary layer functions. The exponential boundary layer function describes the boundary layer along t 0, the boundary layer along x 0 and x 1 is described by parabolic boundary layer functions. © 2022, University o ...More

DETERMINATION OF THE NATURAL ENEMIES AND POPULATION FLUCTUATION OF Tuta absoluta (MEYRICK, 1917) (LEPIDOPTERA:GELECHIIDAE) IN HIGHLAND GREENHOUSES IN ANTALYA, TURKEY

Hüseyin GÖÇMEN

Tomato leafminer Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) is one of the most important pests that cause yield and quality loss in tomato cultivation in greenhouse and open field. 7'. absoluta, has spread rapidly in tomato production areas after emerging to Turkey in 2009. The pest is widely found along growing season in greenhouses and open fields in the coastal part of Antalya, where suitable climatic conditions are present. However, the population status of T. absoluta in tomato cultivation in greenhouses under high altitude highland conditions is not known and the study has been handled for this purpose. th ...More

Improvement of frost tolerance in tomato by foliar application of potassium sulphate

Atilla DURSUN

The study aimed to determine the mean low-temperature exotherms (LTE) of the shoot tip of the dOmur F-1, Cuma F-1, Safir F-1, VT-1770, Elibol F-1, and Adelya F-1 tomato cultivars and Yerli-14 and Yerli-24 local tomato genotypes. Moreover, this investigation intended to specify the most effective dose of potassium sulfate with its efficacy time by applying four different doses of potassium sulfate (K2SO4) foliar fertilizer on the most and least tolerant cultivar. The mean LTE of the shoot tip of seedlings was determined by using differential thermal analysis (DTA). In the second part of the stu ...More

The relationship of asprosin with fl-hydroxybutyric acid and postpartum disorders in cows

Ali RIŞVANLI

The aim of the present study was to determine asprosin levels in cows, the relationship of this hormone with postpartum disorders and fl-hydroxybutyric acid, and also the potential of asprosin to be a marker for postpartum diseases. The study was designed as a two-stage trial. In the first stage, blood asprosin and fl-hydroxybutyric acid levels of 20 healthy Simmental cows aged 3???4 years were measured at the time of calving, and on days 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 postpartum. In the second stage, 200 cows were divided into two groups: (1) healthy (n = 100) and (2) diseased (placental retention, hypoc ...More

Assessment of the impact of the different settlement patterns on the summer land surface temperature: Elazig

Hasan YILMAZ

Currently, cities are at the center of the debate on global warming since land use and land cover change (LULC) in cities are considered to be major contributors to global climate change. In this study, Carsi and Dogukent Neighborhood areas in the city center of Elazig province, Turkey, were examined in terms of land use and land cover (LULC). Both areas were chosen because they have different patterns and features, such as different residential densities, street aspect ratios and orientations, impervious surfaces, vegetation, and elevations. The aim is to assess the effect of the different pa ...More
