Salt tolerance of endophytic root bacteria and their effects on seed germination and viability on tomato plants

Eren ÖZDEN

Salinity is one of the most brutal environmental factors limiting the productivity of agricultural lands worldwide. It is considered that the salinity may be one of the important reasons for the low yield in Igdir of the tomato plants, which is medium resistant (3-5 dS.m-1) among vegetables. Eco-friendly techniques such as endophytic root bacteria treatments (ERB) are needed to restore saline soils to agriculture and also to increase the yield of tomatoes. Endophytic bacteria colonizing the inside of plants increase plant growth by various mechanisms and also mitigate the adverse effects of bi ...Более

Effects of some plant extracts on root-knot nematodes in vitro and in vivo conditions

İlker KEPENEKÇİ

One of the major pests of the vegetables, root knot nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) (Tylenchina: Meloidogynidae) (RKNs) can cause economic losses by forming knots on the host plant roots. RKNs are more prevalent in the greenhouse vegetable growing areas of the coastal regions. In this study, the effects of plant extracts from five different plants; Capsicum frutescens, Hyoscyamus niger (Solanaceae), Melia azedarach (Meliaceae), Xanthium strumarium and Achillea wilhelmsii (Asteraceae) were evaluated against RKNs. In the first studies; the effects of plant extracts (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, 3.0, 6.0 and 12.0 ...Более

Examination of morphological and molecular changes in tomato (Solanum lycopersicum L.) seedlings with the application of tebuconazole

Atilla DURSUN

This study aims to determine the effects of tebuconazole substance used at different doses on the quality of tomato seedlings, retrotransposon mobility caused by this substance in the plants and its genotoxic effects and to determine the optimum dose to be used in practice in seedling production. Tebuconazole applied different concentrations (25, 50, 75, 100, 125 and 150 ppm) were tested. According to the study results, the seedling length and stem length significantly according to the applied doses. The study found out that the stem, leaf and root dry matter contents and leaf chlorophyll cont ...Более

Effects of Some Indigenous Plant Extracts on Meloidogyne javanica Infesting Eggplant and Pepper under Greenhouse Condition

İlker KEPENEKÇİ

Among the major pests of vegetables are Root-Knot Nematodes (Meloidogyne spp.) (RKNs), which cause loss of production due to galling and reduction in root development and shoot growth. Herein, the efficacy of plant extracts of Capsicum frutescens, Hyoscyamus niger, Melia azedarach, Xanthium strumarium and Achillea wilhelmsii were evaluated at 3 concentrations (3, 6, and 12%) against Meloidogyne javanica on pepper and eggplant. Experiments were carried in pots under greenhouse condition, using pepper cv. Charleston and eggplant cv. Kemer as assay plants that are commonly cultivated in Turkey. A ...Более

Control of Tuta absoluta (Meyrick) (Lepidoptera: Gelechiidae) in open field tomato crops using the mating disruption technique

Tair Esenalı Uulu

This study was conducted in Meram district of Konya province (Turkey) in 2018 and 2019 to evaluate the efficacy of mating disruption against the tomato leafminer, Tuta absoluta in an open-field tomato growing area. Three pheromone-treated fields and three control fields were used to evaluate the effectiveness of mating disruption in both years. In pheromone-treated fields, mating disruption pheromone was applied once at a rate of 2500 g/ha with a caulking gun. In control fields, only pheromone traps were hung for monitoring and comparing the pest population. Male captures in monitoring pheromo ...Более

Some Morphological Characteristics of Gene Pool from the Hybridization of Local Tomato Genotypes and Some Commercial Types

Mustafa PAKSOY | Önder TÜRKMEN

Determination of different gene sources is important for plant breeding studies; therefore, local genotypes are of interest. In this study, collected genotypes were hybridizied with commercial genotypes in order to transfer some traits such as disease resistance and long shelf life to local genotypes. After that, obtained genotypes were self pollinated twice and gene pool was created according to some morphological traits. Nine different groups were created from combinations according to result of clustering analysis. Result of principal component analysis (PCA) revealed that total rate of 65. ...Более
