Properties of ZnO and Zn Nanoparticles Produced by Electrical Discharge in Liquid Method

Emil ÖMÜRZAK

The physical processes used to synthesize nanoparticles today are labor-intensive and inefficient in terms of energy use. Our approach, which we employed to create nanoparticles, is straightforward and economical. Using this technique, we synthesized Zinc Oxide (ZnO) nanoparticles and investigated their characteristics using several characterization techniques. We can regulate the form and size of our nanoparticles by altering the experimental conditions, as demonstrated by our investigations. This demonstrates the importance of experimental parameters in synthesizing ZnO nanoparticles by this ...Более

Синтез наночастиц меди в присутствии додецилсульфата натрия

Emil ÖMÜRZAK

Eco-Friendly Synthesis of Silver Nanoparticles Using Pulsed Plasma in Liquid: Effect of Surfactants

Emil ÖMÜRZAK

Silver (Ag) nanoparticles were successfully prepared by using the in-liquid pulsed plasma technique. This method is based on a low voltage, pulsed spark discharge in a dielectric liquid. We explore the effect of the protecting ligands, specifically Cetyl Trimethylammonium Bromide (CTAB), Polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP), and Sodium n-Dodecyl Sulphate (SDS), used as surfactant materials to prevent nanoparticle aggregation. The X-Ray Diffraction (XRD) patterns of the samples confirm the face-centered cubic crystalline structure of Ag nanoparticles with the presence of Ag2O skin. Scanning Transmission ...Более

Activated Carbon for Wastewater Treatment from Phenol Compounds

Külümkan SARTOVA | Emil ÖMÜRZAK

Application of activated carbon (AC) obtained from cotton wastes (bolls, stems, and roots) for phenol adsorp-tion from water, or wastewater dephenolization, is presented. The kinetics of phenol adsorption by carbon adsor-bents were studied using UV/Vis spectrophotometer. The porosity of the formed ACs ranged from 1.952 to 2.339 cm3/g, the volume of macropores was from 1.79 to 2.09 cm3/g, while the commercial sample BAU-A showed 1.920 and 1.320 cm3/g, respectively. The highest phenol adsorption rate, 32.49-52.80 mg/(g center dot min), was observed for contact time up to 5 min on carbon adsorben ...Более

Activated carbon obtained from the cotton processing wastes

Külümkan SARTOVA | Emil ÖMÜRZAK | Bakıt BORKOYEV

Activated carbon (AC) was obtained from the cotton (Gossypium malvaceae) processing waste materials. The process was carried out by carbonization at 500–800 °C and subsequent activation at 800 °C by water stream. Cotton biomass is a renewable, low-cost alternative source for textile and food products; however, it hasn't been used for manufacturing of an activated carbon by carbonization in a boiling layer method. Characterization of adsorbents by means of Scanning Electronic Microscope and FT-IR showed that high porosity of carbonized products which was achieved and functional groups were form ...Более

Thermal and Optical Properties of In and In2O3 Nanoparticles Synthesized Using Pulsed Plasma in Water

Emil ÖMÜRZAK

We present small indium (In) nanoparticles with an average diameter of 4.5 nm synthesized by pulsed plasma in water. Slightly increased lattice constants and thermal stability of the tetragonal In are revealed by X‐ray diffraction analysis, Rietveld refinement, and thermogravimetric analysis. The highly crystalline body‐centered cubic indium oxide (In2O3) nanoparticles with an average diameter of 12 nm and various shapes (semispherical, semihexagonal, and semicubic) are obtained by annealing the as‐synthesized In nanoparticles at 450 °C. The bandgap energy of the In2O3 nanoparticles is 3.63 eV ...Более

Synthesis of Nanomaterials by the Pulsed Plasma in Liquid and their Bio-medical Applications

Emil ÖMÜRZAK | Ruslan ADİL AKAY TEGİN

Pulsed plasma in liquid is a simple, ecologically friendly, cost-efficient method based on electrical discharge between two metal electrodes submerged into a dielectric liquid. We synthesized carbon-encapsulated Fe (Fe@C) magnetic nanoparticles with low cytotoxicity using pulsed plasma in a liquid. Body-centered cubic Fe core nanoparticles showed good crystalline structures with an average size between 20 and 30 nm were encapsulated in onion-like carbon coatings with a thickness of 2–10 nm. Thermal gravimetric analysis showed a high stability of the as-synthesized samples under thermal treatme ...Более

Copper Nanoparticles: Synthesis and Biological Activity

Emil ÖMÜRZAK | Tinatin DOOLOTKELDİEVA | Saykal BOBUŞOVA

By means of XRD and FESEM analysis, it is established that copper nanoparticles with sizes less than 10 nm are formed during the chemical reduction, which form aggregates mainly with spherical shape. Presence of gelatin during the chemical reduction of copper induced formation of smaller size distribution nanoparticles than that of nanoparticles synthesized without gelatin and it can be related to formation of protective layer. Synthesized Cu nano-powders have sufficiently high activity against the Erwinia amylovora bacterium, and the bacterial growth inhibition depends on the Cu nanoparticles ...Более

Preparation of stabilized silver and tin nanocomposites by electrical discharge

Emil ÖMÜRZAK

In this study silver and tin nanocomposites were synthesized by electro spark dispersion in ethanol. Resulting nanocomposite was characterized by using the powder x-ray diffraction and emission scanning electron microscopy. It was found by X-ray phase analysis that the product obtained by electro spark joint dispersion of silver and tin in ethanol consists of two phases: Ag3Sn and beta-Sn. The results of processing SEM micrographs of the product of the Ag-Sn system show that the obtained phases are spherical nanostructures with sizes of 30-60 nm. This size of nanostructures was associated wit ...Более

Effect of surfactant materials to nanoparticles formation under pulsed plasma conditions and their antibacterial properties

Emil ÖMÜRZAK | Ruslan ADİL AKAY TEGİN

Pulsed plasma between two Zn rods submerged into aqueous solution of cetyl trimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) surfactants resulted in formation of pure ZnO nanorods, while the pulsed plasma between two Zn rods in water without surfactant yielded a mixture of ZnO and Zn nanoparticles. Carbon coated ZnO nanorods with about 20 nm thickness and 150 nm length were synthesized by this method using different surfactant materials such as CTAB and SDS. Cu nanoparticles of about 10 nm in size were also synthesized by the pulsed plasma in aqueous solution of 0.2 % gelatine ...Более
