This paper examines the role of the classroom environment in promoting student well-being and, more specif-ically, a sense of responsibility towards nature in the city. The study analyzed how indoor vs outdoor educational environments affect students' perception of events and phenomena focusing on emotional, behavioral and cognitive processes. It was conducted in the Kayakyolu Secondary School, Erzurum, Turkey with 282 students ranging in age from 11 to 14 in grades 5-8. They participated in reading a story in two distinct environments: an enclosed indoor classroom and an outdoor botanical gar ...Более
This study introduces a new evolutionary approach called Binary Genetic Programming (BGP) to design and assess public transportation systems from a sustainable development perspective. The BGP combines evolutionary system identi cation techniques with k-fold cross-validation to obtain an accurate model between the land use and transportation parameters from a sustainable urban development point of view. To assess the new model, two public transportation systems including the new tram line of Antalya (Turkey) and the bus rapid transit line of Bhopal (India) were considered. The model was employ ...Более
The advancement of the machine learning (ML) models has demonstrated notable progress in geosciences. They can identify the underlying process or causality of natural hazards. This article introduces the development and verification procedures of a new hybrid ML model, namely Bat-ELM for predictive drought modelling. The multi-temporal standardized precipitation evapotranspiration index (SPEI-3 and SPEI-6) is computed as the meteorological drought index at two study regions (Beypazari and Nallihan), located in Ankara province, Turkey. The proposed hybrid model is obtained by integrating the Ba ...Более
Currently, cities are at the center of the debate on global warming since land use and land cover change (LULC) in cities are considered to be major contributors to global climate change. In this study, Carsi and Dogukent Neighborhood areas in the city center of Elazig province, Turkey, were examined in terms of land use and land cover (LULC). Both areas were chosen because they have different patterns and features, such as different residential densities, street aspect ratios and orientations, impervious surfaces, vegetation, and elevations. The aim is to assess the effect of the different pa ...Более
