In the study, panel data analysis was conducted on 32 OECD countries covering the period 1990-2018. To analyse the effect of energy consumption on economic growth, first, a cross-section de-pendence test of the variables was carried out, then CADF Test, which is the most suitable unit root test based on the obtained results results, was applied. According to the findings of the Hausman, autocor-relation, and heteroscedasticity tests, it has been decided to use the Driscoll-Kraay test for the model's forecast. The forecast results demonstrate that energy consumption positively affects economic ...Более
Purpose - This study investigates the factors affecting the learning outcomes of Asian students. Methods - The effects of both educational inputs and economic and socioeconomic variables on the PISA scores of 10 Asian countries (Hong Kong, Indonesia, Japan, Singapore, Macau, Korea, Turkey, Israel, Qatar, and Thailand) for the years 2006, 2009, 2012 and 2015 were examined using unbalanced panel data. Findings - The results show that country -level economic factors strongly affect academic achievement. Furthermore, country -level economic factors dominate the other explanatory factors in the num ...Более
This study analyses the role of risk attitude for entrepreneurship by gender differences in Kyrgyzstan. Logit analysis is applied to the cross-sectional data set drawn from the nationally representative survey for 2011. Entrepreneurship is measured by the self-employment activities and analysed by the agricultural and non-agricultural sample. Results of the study show that more risk-taking preferences are associated with higher entrepreneurship probability. However, this effect is not persistent for women in further estimations for non-agricultural entrepreneurship sample, while for men higher ...Более
This study uses a Mincerian earnings function to estimate the effect of education and experience on the wages of women working in developed business and trade center of Bishkek, Kyrgyztan. It employs a robust median regression and M Regression to estimate the functions for both public and private sectors. The paper also estimates the function using a least squared regression for comparison. Findings/Originality: The results show that returns to education for women employees in the private sector are higher than that of in the public sector. In contrast, the returns to experience for women empl ...Более
Purpose
The global financial crisis hit the economy of the Kyrgyz Republic by the third wave of its transmission in early 2009. The empirical model is the vector autoregression approach. The quarterly data from 2005 to 2013 of the remittances from abroad, t ...Более
This study aims to explore how changes in explanatory variables may affect the probability of sovereign credit ratings assigned by Fitch, which is assumed to be a binary choice variable. For this purpose annual data of selected developed and developing countries for the period 2002-2016 have been used. In the empirical analysis the binary logit model has been applied. The estimation results indicate that all the explanatory variables are statistically significant in explaining credit ratings. Consistent with prior research, credit ratings are positively related to per capita gross domestic pro ...Более
The relationship between the interest rate and inflation is one of the most discussed issues in macroeconomic studies, especially within the scope of the Fisher and Neo-Fisher effect. In this study, panel causality analyzes are applied by using a quarterly dataset between 2001 and 2019 in 32 OECD countries, and the form and power of this relationship are tried to be explained by a regression analysis. With the existence of cross-section dependence, the Hausman test, autocorrelation and heteroscedasticity tests are performed, and the stationarity of the variables are analyzed by the CADF test. ...Более
