No Evidence of an Elevation Effect Caused by Temperature Differences on Soil Microbial Properties in a Walnut Fruit Forest in Kyrgyzstan

Cıldız ÖSKÖNBAEVA

This study is to investigate the effect of differences in annual average temperature on soil microbial communities as caused by elevation in walnut-fruit forests in Kyrgyzstan with similar vegetation. Soil samples (n 10 per site) were collected from top- and subsoil at three elevation levels (1000, 1300 and 1600 m above sea level) with an average temperature difference of 1.3 °C between sites and analysed for soil chemical and biological properties. All soil properties showed high variability within, but most revealed no differences between elevation levels. Microbial biomass, activity and com ...Более

Possibilities for Prediction And Evaluation of the Carbon Footprint in Furnace Fuel Oil Combustion in Medium- and Low-Power Boilers

Mirlan MOLDOBAYEV | Zarlık MAYMEKOV

To predict and evaluate the carbon footprint in the gas phase, furnace fuel oil oxidation in excess air (alpha factor 1.3) was studied over a wide temperature (T 298–3000 K, P 0.1 MPa). Equilibrium thermodynamic parameters (entropy, enthalpy, and internal energy) and the concentration distributions of C-, S-, N-, O-, and H-containing components and active particles in the gas phase were determined. Based on the total concentration distribution of C-, S-, N-, O-, and H-containing components and active particles in the gas phase, the weight content of carbon was calculated. Taking into account t ...Более

Electrochemical Sulfur Removal at Controlled and Uncontrolled pHs with an Iron Anode

Nurzat ŞAYKİYEVA | Mustafa DOLAZ | Zarlık MAYMEKOV | Mehmet KOBYA

In this study, sulfide removal was carried out in the Electrocoagulation process under controlled and uncontrolled pH conditions. Under optimum conditions, electrocoagulation took place in less than 40 minutes at uncontrolled pH and less than 30 minutes at controlled pH to reduce the sulfite concentration of the effluent below 0.5 mg/L. The reaction rate constant and iron-sulfide molar ratio for sulfide removal were 14.09 x 10(-2) min(-1) and 0.97 mol/mol, respectively; under uncontrolled pH conditions, they were 22.88 x 10(-2) and 0.97 mol/mol at controlled pH. The mg sulfide removed per g Fe ...Более

A hitchhiker’s guide: estimates of microbial biomass and microbial gene abundance in soil

Canıl İSKAKOVA

Information on microbial biomass carbon (MBC) is crucial to assess their stocks and role for plant nutrient release in soil. Next to fumigation-extraction, molecular methods are routinely used to estimate the contribution of fungi, bacteria, and archaea to the soil microbial community. However, more information on the links between these different indices would deepen the understanding of microbial processes. The current study is based on 11 datasets, which contain MBC and MBN data obtained by fumigation-extraction and information on bacterial, archaeal, and fungal gene abundance, totalling 76 ...Более

Dynamics of Microbiological Diversity of Soils in the Chu Valley during Land Use Change in Pastures

Nurzat TOTUBAYEVA

Soil microflora is one of the first to feel a negative impact and can serve as a biological indicator of changes in the soil structure and the degree of impact on the soil ecosystem. In 2020, studies were carried out at two sites located in the Shamshy Gorge in the Chui region of the Kyrgyz Republic. One of the plots was withdrawn from pasture use for one year in 2020 and two years in 2019 as compared to the actively used control option. The microbiological diversity was studied with conventional methods of microbiology. The micromycetes of the studied soils were represented in the dominance o ...Более

10XSBF Bone-Like Hydroxyapatite Coating of Ti-6Al-4V with Microwave Irradiation and its Antibacterial Properties

Mustafa DOLAZ

The surfaces of titanium (Ti-6Al-4V) implants, which are widely preferred as implant material in medicine and dentistry, are biomimetically coated with nanohydroxyapatite (nHAp) in simulated body fluid (10XSBF) with microwave-assisted 10-f time concentration solution. A second layer was formed with different amounts of non-toxic AgNO3 to impart antibacterial properties to the implant materials coated with nHAp. In comparison of uncoated implants with nHAp and Ag-coated Ti-6Al-4V implants, surface morphologies were evaluated by SEM analysis, phase grade and structure were evaluated by XRD, and ...Более

Synthesis and Characterization of Hydroxypropyl Acorn Starch (HPAS) From Oak Acorn

Mustafa DOLAZ

The utilization of forest auxiliary products and their conversion into products with higher added value is important for the use of renewable resources. For this purpose, acorns belonging to the Q. coccifera species were collected in November, which is their ripening period, and dried and ground in the laboratory. Then, acorn starch (AS) was isolated from the sieved acorn flour. For 5 g of this isolated AS, hydroxypropyl acorn starch (HPAS) with the highest molar substitution (MS = 0.319) was synthesized by optimizing at 45 degrees C for 5 h with 30 g of propylene oxide and 1.88 g of NaOH. The ...Более
