Background: Intrauterine mixed infections are an important problem in cattle breeding. In this study, we aimed to determine the mixed bacteriological isolation rates from the uterus of cows with clinical metritis and to reveal the relationships between the bacteria that isolated together. Methods: For this purpose, sterile swabs were taken from 490 uterus obtained from cattle slaughtered due to infertility in three slaughterhouses and used them to perform microbiological tests. After evaluating the data, it was determined that the bacterial isolation rate from uterus with clinical metritis was ...Более
The current study was undertaken to determine the 17-13 Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P4) levels in different milk products and some baby follow-on milk samples collected from retail markets in Turkiye. For this purpose, a total of 50 samples from 8 different product groups with different fat levels, production technologies, and production series were analyzed for natural P4 and E2 levels using a commercial ELISA kit. The highest E2 level was determined in UHT whole milk (3) (39.20 /- 6.73 pmol center dot L-1) while the lowest level was found in buttermilk (26.50 /- 1.85 pmol center dot L-1 ...Более
The transition period is important in cows. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of retained fetal membranes (RFM), clinical mastitis, and metritis on biochemical and selected mineral levels in Simmental cows. Cows were divided into five groups; cows with RFM (n=17), clinical mastitis (n=25), metritis (n=21) and postpartum healthy cows (n=21) within 21 days postpartum, and also prepartum healthy cows (n=20) in the 15±5 days before the expected parturition date. The activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (85.18±15.83 U/L), aspartate transaminase (AST) (123.02±19.15 U/L), and gamma-g ...Более
Electrical teat dipping (ETD) is a novel, patented method developed by the authors to control mastitis in dairy cows. Here we evaluate the efficacy of ETD in reducing the incidence of clinical mastitis and bulk tank milk somatic cell count (BTMSCC) on three dairy farms over 6 months. ETD was applied for morning and evening milking on three farms, while conventional teat dipping (CTD) was applied on the other three farms. The number of animals and quarters with clinical mastitis and monthly BTMSCC measurements were recorded. We found that the incidence of clinical mastitis was lower on farms us ...Более
Background: Here we investigate whether the composition and some chemical properties of milk can correlate with bacterial species causing subclinical mastitis in cows. Methods: One hundred and eighty cows were used in the study. The California Mastitis Test (CMT) was applied to the selected cows. The cows were divided into four groups: cows with negative CMT (n45), the Escherichia coli (n45), Streptococcus agalactiae (n45) and Staphylococcus aureus (n45) groups.Result: Milk composition and some chemical properties were measured. The highest fat ratio (5.82 /- 0.34) was found in the Escherichia ...Более
This study aimed to determine the distribution and heterogeneity of mast cells located in different parts of the genital tract of female quails (Coturnix coturnix japonica) during the prepubertal and postpubertal periods using different fixation solutions and staining methods. Materials and Methods: For this purpose, tissue samples were taken from the genital tract (infundibulum, magnum, isthmus, uterus, vagina) of healthy female quails, including 10 prepubertal and 10 postpubertal animals. The tissue samples of both groups were fixed in either 10 neutral formaldehyde or isotonic formaldehyde ...Более
Kyrgyzstan’s challenging natural conditions and fragile mountain ecosystems can weaken the immune system of individuals residing permanently in high-altitude areas. Our study aimed to explore specific immune protection indicators in healthy populations from the Chui and Naryn regions at varying mountain altitudes. We assessed percentages of CD3 (T-lymphocytes), CD20 (B-lymphocytes), CD4 (T-helper lymphocytes), CD8 (cytotoxic T-lymphocytes), IRI (immunoregulatory index), CIC (circulating immune complexes), and quantified immunoglobulins of classes A, M, and G. Using immunofluorescent methods an ...Более
The fertility of multiparous Kyrgyz sheep was studied in this work. It was revealed that the values of young stock actual accretion per 100 lambed ewes might vary greatly with age. Its value was increasing gradually up to the 4-year-old age of ewes. It was found that with the increase in ewes‘ live weight to a certain limit, fertility also increased, and the further increase in live weight was associated with the increase in fertility. Ewes with the live weight of 50.0-54.9 kg had the highest fertility (170.4%). Ewes‘ fertility in relation to age was in the range of 146.0-168.0%. The highest f ...Более
Teat canal stenosis is a significant factor that impedes milking and can lead to cows being unable to rear. Because the methods applied in the treatment of teat canal stenosis are mostly unsuccessful, animals with the disease are usually removed from breeding. In this case, it causes great damage to the livestock economy in the world. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of the veterinary argon plasma coagulation device, a newly developed treatment for teat canal stenosis. A two-stage study was conducted for this purpose. In the first stage, as a material, 30 teats from 30 cows of varyin ...Более
Today, conventional teaching methods are losing their effectiveness at transferring knowledge and skills, prompting the presentation of alternative strategies that hold more promise. One of the innovative alternative education materials in veterinary anatomy education is the models produced on three-dimensional (3D) printers. The subject of this study is 4 different bone biomodels 3D modeled and printed with reference to cadaver-derived bones. In the study, a total of 298 students were asked to evaluate these biomodels in terms of their similarity to the reference bones. According to the surve ...Более
This study was aimed to determine by immunohistochemical methods the expressions of acute phase protein such as Haptoglobin, C-reactive protein and Serum Amyloid in the lungs of cattle suffering from pneumonic pasteurellosis (PP). The material of the study was the lungs of 8-18 month old cattle Holstein with Fibrinous Bronchopneumonia brought for necropsy to the Pathology Department of the Selcuk University Veterinary Faculty between 2019-2020. As a result of microbiological culture from the lungs of these animals, 6 lungs where Pasteurella spp. was isolated were used in the study. Additionall ...Более
The tumor microenvironment (TME) is an important component for studying tumor behavior in several cancers in human beings. However, little information regarding the role of the TME in canine mammary tumors (CMTs) is available compared to humans. In this study, the aim was to investigate the relationship between the TME, hypoxia and angiogenesis through CD31, VEGF, HIF-1a, CD68 and CD163 expression by using immunohistochemical (IHC) methods in formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded canine mammary tumor samples [(n34: malignant (n28) and benign (n6)], to compare them with the clinicopathological featu ...Более
