Nomadic pastoralism and interaction zones (The case of pre-Soviet Kyrgyz pastoralism)

This paper re-conceptualizes the four-seasonal cycling tradition of pre-Soviet Kyrgyz pastoralism, reconsidering the existing archival and oral materials. It argues that the summer quarters (zhailoo) in nomadic cycling were core contact zones for whole clan-based Kyrgyz community in pre-Soviet time whereas, the other winter, spring and autumn quarters remained in the margins. A Group of Large Kurgans in the Suusamyr Valley, Kyrgyzstan

We introduce recently discovered large kurgans of the Saka period in the Suusamyr valley, northern Kyrgyzstan. Mere are two cemeteries with large mounds, each of which is surrounded by ditches, stone enclosures, and ramparts. Apparently, each kurgan and the constructions around it form a whole burial complex. Study of support for high school students from school methodological services (An examination of the support high school students receive from school guidance services)

The aim of the study was to examine the support that high school students have received from school guidance services. The data were collected using a questionnaire which developed by the researcher. The data were collected through guidance counselors from the records of a total of 2 755 students (1 529 females and 1 226 males) who received support from the guidance services of four different high school types. When the results of the study were examined by the gender variable, it was concluded that female students received more support from the school guidance service than male students.

Activated Carbon for Wastewater Treatment from Phenol Compounds

Application of activated carbon (AC) obtained from cotton wastes (bolls, stems, and roots) for phenol adsorp-tion from water, or wastewater dephenolization, is presented. The kinetics of phenol adsorption by carbon adsor-bents were studied using UV/Vis spectrophotometer. The porosity of the formed ACs ranged from 1.952 to 2.339 cm3/g, the volume of macropores was from 1.79 to 2.09 cm3/g, while the commercial sample BAU-A showed 1.920 and 1.320 cm3/g, respectively.
