Checklist of Turkish Raphidioptera on the basis of distribution pattern and biogeographical analysis

Savaş CANBULAT

An updated checklist of the species of Turkish Raphidioptera and further analysis concerning their zoogeographical distribution are presented in this study. The present checklist has been based on studies from the literature and includes records from extensive material that I have identified over the last few years. The Turkish Raphidioptera presently comprises 40 species in 8 genera and 2 families. There are 38 species of Raphidiidae, while there are only 2 species of Inocelliidae in Turkey. Among these species, 19 species are recorded as endemic and the endemism rate is 47.5%. Distributions ...Более

The usability of Juniperus virginiana L. as a biomonitor of heavy metal pollution in Bishkek City, Kyrgyzstan

Zeki SEVEROĞLU | İlhan DOĞAN | Gülbübü KURMANBEKOVA

Uncontrolled and unplanned urbanization and industrialization due to increase of population and rapid industrial development have created severe environmental problems in Kyrgyzstan during the last few decades. In this study, Juniperus virginiana, a dioecious species, was employed in order to make assessment of the heavy metal pollution rate in the area and of the heavy metal pollution impact on the mineral nutrient status of the plant. For this study, leaf (washed and unwashed) and bark samples of J. virginiana, and its co-located soil samples were collected from eight different stations, all ...Более

Fecal Ciliate Composition of Domestic Horses (Equus caballus Linnaeus, 1758) Living in Kyrgyzstan

Nurbek ALDAYAROV

Species composition and distribution of intestinal ciliates were investigated in the feces from 15 domestic horses living in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. Twenty-three species belonging to 14 genera were identified. This is the first study on intestinal ciliates in domestic horses living in Kyrgyzstan. The mean number of ciliates was 14.1 +/- 6.8 x 10(4) cells ml(-1) of feces and the mean number of ciliate species per host was 6.0 +/- 3.2. No endemic or new species were detected. Blepharocorys was the major genus as these ciliates were detected in high proportions. In contrast Holophryoides, Allantosom ...Более

Environmental relationships of the vascular flora alongside the railway tracks between Haydarpaşa and Gebze (Istanbul-Kocaeli/ Turkey)

Zeki SEVEROĞLU

The vascular flora alongside the railway track between Haydarpasa and Gebze in Turkey was investigated and the floristic features of the study area are presented here. The investigation was undertaken during 2003-2009. In total 194 plant taxa were determined. Out of these 174 were naturally growing and 20 were exotics and cultivated. Native taxa within the flora belonged to 135 genera and 50 families, exotic and cultivated taxa belonged to 20 genera and 15 families. The members of Dicotyledonae constituted of 82.76% and Monocotyledonae 16.09% of the native taxa. The highest number of these tax ...Более

Flora and Plant Formations Distributed in At-Bashy Valleys–Internal Tien Shan in Kyrgyzstan and Interactions with Climate

Nazgül İMANBERDİYEVA

In this chapter, the flora and vegetation of Kyrgyzstan’s At-Bashy valley and inner Tien Shan, together with the vegetational changes due to climatic impacts, are presented. The data presented covers the period between 2000 and 2014. More than 50 % of the higher plants in Kyrgyzstan grow on a very small territory. There are more than 4100 species distributed in the country and 1600 of these possess economic and practical value. Flora in At-Bashy valleys is represented by 222 species of higher plants belonging to 130 genera and 35 families. Steppes are a dominant vegetation type in the study ar ...Более
