The advanced polymer composite coated fabrics as an anode electrode and photocatalytic glucose micro fuel cell design

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK

At present, poly N-isopropyl acrylamide (PNIPAM) polymer composites containing titanium dioxide (TiO2) and carbon-TiO2 (C-TiO2) were designed for photocatalytic glucose electrooxidation by coating the textile fabric surface such as wool blended fabrics called Sign Cocana (SC), Valencia (VC), Dante (DT), and Broadway (BW). C-TiO2 was obtained from TiO2 in a furnace under hexane gas with a certain temperature and time. Polymer synthesis was realized by a polymerization method. The surface analyses of these polymer composite fabric electrodes were characterized by scanning electron microscopy-ene ...Более

The enhanced TiO2-supported CdTe photocatalysts for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide electrooxidation

Nahit AKTAŞ

At present, titanium dioxide (TiO2)-supported CdTe photocatalysts were prepared by wet impregnation method for photocatalytic hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) electrooxidation. The structural and morphology surface analyses of these photocatalysts were characterized by X-Ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy-energy dispersive X-Ray (SEM-EDX) and mapping analysis, high-resolution transmission electron microscopy (HR-TEM), ultraviolet–visible (UV–VIS) spectroscopy, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). In addition, the photocatal ...Более

Electrochemical studies on graphene oxide-supported metallic and bimetallic nanoparticles for fuel cell applications

Ali Osman SOLAK

A fuel cell is an electrochemical cell that converts a source fuel into an electrical current. It generates electricity inside a cell through reactions between a fuel and an oxidant, triggered in the presence of an electrolyte. Fuel cells have been attracting more and more attention in recent decades due to high-energy demands, fossil fuel depletions, and environmental pollution throughout world. In this study, different sized metallic and bimetallic nanoparticles (AuNPs, Fe@AuNPs, Ag@AuNPs) were synthesized on graphene oxide sheets and their electrocatalytic activities for methanol oxidation ...Более

Modeling of simultaneous heat and mass transfer during convective oven ring cake baking

Coşkan ILICALI

The convective oven ring cake baking process was investigated experimentally and numerically as a simultaneous heat and mass transfer process. The mathematical model described previously by the authors for cup cake baking was modified to simulate ring cake baking. The heat and mass transfer mechanisms were defined by Fourier’s and Fick’s second laws, respectively. The implicit alternating direction finite difference technique was used for the numerical solution of the representative model. Prior to the utilization of the developed model in predicting the temperature and moisture profiles for r ...Более

Fast harmonic analysis for PHIL experiments with decentralized real-time controllers

Özgül SALOR-DURNA

This paper proposes and implements, a harmonic analysis technique used in microgrids for inverter power control when measured voltage and current signals are passed over a communication link with considerable latency. Using frequency-shifting and filtering techniques, the measurement is converted to magnitude and phase information and passed over an asynchronous communication link to another controller, where the original waveform is recovered with delay compensation. The method allows accurate power calculations and grid synchronization over distributed prosumer controllers. The proposed meth ...Более

The role and effect of CdS-based TiO2 photocatalysts enhanced with a wetness impregnation method for efficient photocatalytic glucose electrooxidation

Nahit AKTAŞ

The 0.1 CdS-based TiO2 photocatalysts with different atomic ratios were synthesized by the wetness impregnation (WI) method. These photocatalysts were characterized to actively determine surface area using TPx analyses (TPR, TPO, and TPD). Furthermore, surface structures and properties of photocatalysts were defined by analyses such as XRD, UV-VIS spectroscopy, SEM-EDX and mapping, fluorescence spectroscopy, TEM-EDS, and XPS. The photocatalytic activities of photocatalysts were examined by CV, CA, and EIS electrochemical analyses to investigate use in photocatalytic fuel cells (PFCs) in glucos ...Более

Nahit AKTAŞ

The 0.1 CdTe/TiO2 photocatalysts with different atomic molar ratios (90-10, 70-30, 50-50, and 30-70) were synthesized by the wetness impregnation method and characterized by the XRD, SEM-EDX and mapping, N2 adsorption-desorption, ICP-MS, TEM-EDS and STEM mapping, UV-VIS spectroscopy, fluorescence spectroscopy, XPS, TPR, TPO, and TPD analyses. The photocatalytic activities were examined to investigate by CV, CA, and EIS electrochemical analyses for photocatalytic fuel cells (PFCs) in glucose solution in the dark and under UV illu-mination. The characterization analyses revealed that anatase TiO ...Более

Carbon nanotube supported Ga@PdAgCo anode catalysts for hydrazine electrooxidation in alkaline media

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK

In this study, carbon nanotube supported (CNT) monometallic (Pd), trimetallic (PdAgCo), and multimetallic (Ga@PdAgCo) catalysts in different weight percentages (0.5-10) are synthesized by the NaBH4 reduction method and characterized transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS), and X-ray diffraction (XRD) analytical methods. Ac-cording to the TEM analysis results, while agglomeration doesn't observe for 3 Ga@PdAgCo(80:10:10)/CNT catalyst, agglomeration is observed in certain parts for 7 Ga@PdAgCo(80:10:10) ...Более

Promoting formic acid and ethylene glycol electrooxidation activity on Ga modified Pd based catalysts

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK | Nahit AKTAŞ

Herein, carbon nanotube (CNT)-supported Ga@PdAgCo catalysts were synthesized by sodium borohydride (SBH) sequential reduction method. These catalysts were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometry (ICP-MS). Characterization results revealed that these catalysts were succesfully preared at desired loading and atomic ratios. From the XRD pattern, the crystallite size of 0.5 Ga@PdAgCo(80:10:10)/CNT catalysts was found as 6.95 nm by utilizing the Scherrer equation. From ...Более

Benzotiyofen@Pd as an efficient and stable catalyst for the electrocatalytic oxidation of hydrazine

Hilal DEMİR KIVRAK

An efficient methods for the synthesis of 2-(2,5-dimethylphenyl)-3-iodobenzo[b]thiophene (4) is described, and investigated its anode catalyst performance by using electrochemical methods (CV, CA and EIS). When 2-(2,5dimethylphenyl)-3-iodobenzo[b]thiophene (4) is applied, the specific activity is found as 25.811 mA/cm(2). Interestingly, when Palladium (Pd) is electrochemically deposited on the benzothiophene derivative, the catalytic activity increased the 80.930 mA/cm(2). This result is highest than the current metal based anode catalyst. Moreover, EIS and CA measurements display that Pd dope ...Более
