Outbreak of sheeppox in farmed sheep in Kyrgystan: Histological, eletron microscopical and molecular characterization

On a farm in the Kyrgyz Republic, several dead sheep were found without any history of illness. The sheep showed several ulcerations on lips and bare-skinned areas. At necropsy the lungs showed multiple firm nodules, which were defined as pox nodules histologically. In the rumen hyperkeratotic plaques were visible. With electron microscopy pox viral particles were detected and confirmed with qPCR as Capripoxviruses. Although all members of the Capripoxvirus genus are eradicated in western countries, this study should remind us of the classical lesions observed in poxvirus infections. Keywords: ...Более

Survey of Anaplasma infections in Small Ruminants from East Part of Turkey = Doğu Anadolu Bölgesinde Koyun ve Keçilerde Anaplasma Enfeksiyonlarının Araştırılması

This study was carried out to determine the presence and frequency of Anaplasma ovis and Anaplasma phagocytophilum in small ruminants from Bingol, Elazig, Malatya and Mus provinces. A total of 422 (291 sheep and 131 goats) blood samples were collected from apparently healthy animals. To determine of A. ovis and A. phagocytophilum in small ruminants, species-specific PCRs were set up using 60 kDA chaperonin gene (cpn60, also known as hsp60 or groEL) and 16S SSU rRNA gene primer sets, respectively. Bu çalışma, Merinos ırkı koyunlarda gebeliğin perifer kan lenfositlerinin alfa naftil asetat esteraz (ANAE) ve asit fosfataz (ACP-az) aktiviteleri ile perifer kan lenfosit oranları üzerindeki etkilerinin belirlenmesi amacıyla yapıldı. In this study, the presence, prevalence, and genotypes of Anaplasma phagocytophilum, A. ovis, and A. capra in sheep were investigated based on 16 S SSU rRNA, groEL, and gtlA gene-specific polymerase chain reaction (PCR), respectively. The sequences of the genes were used for detection of the phylogenetic position of the species. Pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of furosemide in sheep

The pharmacokinetics and bioavailability of furosemide were determined following intravenous (IV), intramuscular (IM), and subcutaneous (SC) administrations at 2.5 mg/kg dose in sheep. The study was conducted on six healthy sheep in a three-way, three-period, crossover pharmacokinetic design with a 15-day washout period.
