Impact of Subclinical Mastitis-causing Bacterial Species on the Composition and Chemical Properties of Milk

Ali RIŞVANLI

Background: Here we investigate whether the composition and some chemical properties of milk can correlate with bacterial species causing subclinical mastitis in cows. Methods: One hundred and eighty cows were used in the study. The California Mastitis Test (CMT) was applied to the selected cows. The cows were divided into four groups: cows with negative CMT (n45), the Escherichia coli (n45), Streptococcus agalactiae (n45) and Staphylococcus aureus (n45) groups.Result: Milk composition and some chemical properties were measured. The highest fat ratio (5.82 /- 0.34) was found in the Escherichia ...Более

Udder defense system: Effect of milk somatic cell countlevel on Th1/Th2 cytokine balance

Ali RIŞVANLI

The immune system of the cow is kept strong to protect the cows from mastitis, which causes economic losses for dairy cattle herds. Cellular immunity, especially, plays an important role as a first-line defense system. In the case of inflammation, cytokines play a decisive role in monitoring this process. In this study, the relationship between somatic cell count (SCC) and cytokine (tumor necrosis factor alpha, interferon gamma, and interleukins TNF-alpha, IFN-gamma,IL-2, -4, -5, and -10, respectively) concentrations in milk were determined. It was decided to support the humoral and cellular a ...Более

Changes in Somatic Cell Count, Composition and Cytokine Levels in Milk from Cows with Mastitis Due to Mixed Infections

Ali RIŞVANLI

Background: Mastitis is a mammary gland inflammation that is very common worldwide, mostly caused by bacteria, and causes enormous economic losses. Many microorganisms cause this disease. The most common causes of mastitis by these microorganisms are Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), Escherichia coli (E. coli) and Streptococcus agalactiae (S. agalactiae). The anti-inflammatory properties of transforming growth factor (TGF)-beta include: 1) limiting interferon (IFN)-gamma production; 2) increasing the expression of the interleukine (IL)-1 receptor antagonist; 3) inhibiting macrophage productio ...Более
