Investigation of Changes in Biochemical Parameters in Some Diseases Occurring During the Transition Period in Simmental Cows

The transition period is important in cows. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of retained fetal membranes (RFM), clinical mastitis, and metritis on biochemical and selected mineral levels in Simmental cows. Haemosporidian Parasites in Blood Smears of Sparrowhawks (Accipiter nisus, Falconiformes: Accipitridae) in Northeastern Turkey

This preliminary study was aimed at determining the occurrence of haemosporidian parasites in the blood of sparrowhawks. For this purpose, blood samples were prepared from 9 sparrowhawks. All birds had been collected from different areas of Northeast Turkey. Blood smears were stained with 5% Giemsa solution and examined under the light microscopy. A total of 7 individuals were infected (77.8%). Haemoproteus spp., Leucocytozoon spp. and Plasmodium spp. were detected in 5 (55.6%), 6 (66.7%) and 4 (44.4%) birds, respectively. The aim of the present study was to compare the analgesic efficacy of instilled intra-peritoneal lidocaine and procaine during the perioperative and the postoperative periods in dogs undergoing elective ovariohysterectomy (OVH). Determination of the Important Toxin Genes of Staphylococcus aureus Isolated from Meat Samples, Food Handlers and Food Processing Surfaces in Turkey

Staphylococcusaureus is a pathogenic microorganism causing food intoxications and producing many heat-stable toxins. In this study S. aureus prevalence, the presence of enterotoxin genes (sea, seb, sec, sed, see, seg, seh, sej, sei) together with the toxic shock syndrome toxin gene (tsst) were investigated by mPCR.
