Checklist of Turkish Raphidioptera on the basis of distribution pattern and biogeographical analysis

Savaş CANBULAT

An updated checklist of the species of Turkish Raphidioptera and further analysis concerning their zoogeographical distribution are presented in this study. The present checklist has been based on studies from the literature and includes records from extensive material that I have identified over the last few years. The Turkish Raphidioptera presently comprises 40 species in 8 genera and 2 families. There are 38 species of Raphidiidae, while there are only 2 species of Inocelliidae in Turkey. Among these species, 19 species are recorded as endemic and the endemism rate is 47.5%. Distributions ...Более

Efficient in vitro plant regeneration from immature embryos of endemic Iris sari and I. schachtii

Ali İrfan İLBAŞ

Plant tissue culture is an efficient technique for conserving endemic plant species. A reproducible in vitro regeneration protocol was developed for the endemic Iris sari and Iris schachtii in the present study. The highest number of shoots per explant was obtained on Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium supplemented with 0.5 mg/L thidiazuron (TDZ) plus 0.5 mg/L α-naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 1 mg/L TDZ plus 0.5 mg/L NAA, whereby 96.88% and 100% shoot induction with 9.55 and 11.34 shoots per explant of Iris sari and Iris schachtii were recorded, respectively. Regenerated shoots were successfull ...Более

Two new records of the Coniopteryx (Neuroptera: Coniopterygidae) species for the Turkish fauna

Savaş CANBULAT

Two species of the family Coniopterygidae, Coniopteryx (Xeroconiopteryx) loipetsederi H. Aspöck, 1963 and C. (Coniopteryx) borealis Tjeder, 1931, are here recorded for the first time in the Turkish fauna. Morphological and ecological notes as well as the distribution map with new recording sites are also provided. For C. loipetsederi, this is the most eastern record, and the eastern limits of the range of C. borealis have also been extended. - Keywords: Neuroptera, Coniopterygidae, Coniopteryx loipetsederi, Coniopteryx borealis, new records, Turkey

Formation of the plexus sacralis in pheasants (Phasianus colchicus mongolicus) and macroanatomic investigation of the nerves originating from the plexus sacralis

Fatih Ramazan İSTANBULLUGİL | Hüseyin KARADAĞ | Şamil SEFERGİL

The purpose of this study was to investigate the formation of the plexus sacralis in the Kyrgyz pheasant (Phasianus colchicus mongolicus) and the origin of the nerves emerging from the plexus sacralis. Five adult male Kyrgyz pheasants were used that had been hunted in their natural habitat near the town of Tokmok in the Chuy region of Kyrgyzstan. The plexus sacralis was found to be formed in the lumbar region by the ventral strands of sacral nerves 1 to 5, originating in the spinal cord. The plexus is composed of the truncus cranialis, which consists of the ventral strands of the first 3 nerve ...Более

Morphometric development and changes in the growth and development dynamics of Japanese quail populations bred in Kyrgyzstan

Askarbek TÜLÖBAEV | Hasan ALPAK

The purpose of the present study was to determine the live weight development phases from hatchling to adolescent bird of Japanese quails bred in Kyrgyzstan, and to determine the age-related changes in body measurements. Adolescent birds were found to have a body length (distance between first vertebra thoracalis to end of sacrum) coefficient of 3.0, a sternum front to rear end length coefficient of 3.3, a tibia length of 2.34, and a pelvic width (distance between right and left acetabulum) coefficient of 1.58. This indicates good development of the quails Keywords: Growth and development, liv ...Более
