Fungal Pathogens Associated with Crown and Root Rot in Wheat-Growing Areas of Northern Kyrgyzstan

İsmail ERPER | Şenol YILDIZ | Sezim COLDOŞBEKOVA | Tair Esenalı Uulu

Fungal species associated with crown and root rot diseases in wheat have been extensively studied in many parts of the world. However, no reports on the relative importance and distribution of pathogens associated with wheat crown and root rot in Kyrgyzstan have been published. Hence, fungal species associated with wheat crown/root rot were surveyed in three main wheat production regions in northern Kyrgyzstan. Fungal species were isolated on 1/5 strength potato-dextrose agar amended with streptomycin (0.1 g/L) and chloramphenicol (0.05 g/L). A total of 598 fungal isolates from symptomatic tis ...Более

Comparative modeling and enzymatic affinity of novel haloacid dehalogenase from Bacillus megaterium strain BHS1 isolated from alkaline Blue Lake in Turkey

Yılmaz KAYA

This study presents the initial structural model of L-haloacid dehalogenase (DehLBHS1) from Bacillus megaterium BHS1, an alkalotolerant bacterium known for its ability to degrade halogenated environmental pollutants. The model provides insights into the structural features of DehLBHS1 and expands our understanding of the enzymatic mechanisms involved in the degradation of these hazardous pollutants. Key amino acid residues (Arg40, Phe59, Asn118, Asn176, and Trp178) in DehLBHS1 were identified to play critical roles in catalysis and molecular recognition of haloalkanoic acid, essential for effi ...Более

Horse breeding, wrestling and racing: From central Asia to Anatolia

Mehmet TÜRKMEN

In this study, “Stallion wrestling,” which was made in the nature of horseherds (yilki) and a designated area for horse breeding in ancient Turks, is presented with some arguments. Explaining briefly the importance given to horses and horse breeders in ancient Turks and today’s Central Asian culture, how stallion wrestling was formed and transformed; it was aimed to seek answers to the questions of why horse breeding was not done with this wrestling method in the Ottoman Empire, but it was done with a canter running system and to recognize and introduce this ancient traditional struggle. In th ...Более

Bioremediation approaches for oil contaminated soils in extremely high-mountainous conditions

Nurzat TOTUBAYEVA | Ciyde TOKPAEVA | Canarbek İZAKOV | Mirlan MOLDOBAYEV

Development of methods for bioremediation of soils contaminated with petroleum products is one of the most urgent tasks of our time. This task is more difficult to perform in high-mountainous landscapes, at an altitude of more than 4 000 m a.s.l. Moreover, these high-mountain ecosystems are the most vulnerable to various kinds of anthropogenic impacts, and therefore the relevance of bioremediation is obvious. The research was conducted in the high-altitude ecosystems of the Kyrgyz Republic at the Kumtor mine. In this study was carried out on the bioremediation of oil contaminated soil using bi ...Более

Reducing oxidative stress by kappa-carrageenan and C60HyFn: The post-thaw quality and antioxidant status of Azari water buffalo bull semen

Damla ARSLAN ACARÖZ

Azeri water buffalo is a species of great interest due to the high quality of its products such as milk. Due to the decreasing trend of its number and risk of extinction in the future, our attention is directed towards ensuring the preservation of its genetic reserves by keeping its sperm. Using antioxidants in semen extender is one of the ways to reduce the detrimental effects of freezing process on post-thawed quality of spermatozoa. This study was conducted to determine the effect of κ-carrageenan (k-CRG) and C60HyFn supplemented semen extender on the quality of post-thawed Azari water buff ...Более

Above ground and underground-An integrated approach of the burial mounds within the Suusamyr plateau, Kyrgyzstan

Kubatbek TABALDİYEV | Künbolot AKMATOV

Archaeological research in the Kyrghyz Tian Shan Mountains using state-of-the-art technology such as geophysical investigations and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) is still in its early stages. The current investigations have shed light on the complexity of burial grounds in the Suusamyr Plateau, where over 951 structures have withstood the test of time and now serve as a silent expression of ancient civilizations. This study utilized an integrative approach that combined UAV data and geophysical prospection to map surface and subsurface features. Of the identified structures, 68.2 are burial ...Более

Production of secondary metabolites using tissue culture-based biotechnological applications

Yılmaz KAYA

Plants are the sources of many bioactive secondary metabolites which are present in plant organs including leaves, stems, roots, and flowers. Although they provide advantages to the plants in many cases, they are not necessary for metabolisms related to growth, development, and reproduction. They are specific to plant species and are precursor substances, which can be modified for generations of various compounds in different plant species. Secondary metabolites are used in many industries, including dye, food processing and cosmetic industries, and in agricultural control as well as being use ...Более

Analysis of genotype by environment interaction to identify high-yielding and stable oilseed rape genotypes using the GGE-biplot model

Hossein ZEİNALZADEH TABRİZİ

Spring oilseed rape is one of the major oilseed crops produced in different regions of Iran's tropical climates. Because of the various climatic and geographical conditions of the tropical areas of Iran, it is necessary to release high-yielding cultivars with broad adaptability to the various tropical regions. The main objective of this study was to identify high-yielding and stable spring oilseed rape genotypes among some new oilseed rape genotypes via analysis of genotype by environment interaction using the GGE biplot model. To this end, multi environmental trials (METs) were conducted acro ...Более

A new binary genetic programming approach to designing public transportation systems according to transit-oriented development criteria

Hasan YILMAZ

This study introduces a new evolutionary approach called Binary Genetic Programming (BGP) to design and assess public transportation systems from a sustainable development perspective. The BGP combines evolutionary system identi cation techniques with k-fold cross-validation to obtain an accurate model between the land use and transportation parameters from a sustainable urban development point of view. To assess the new model, two public transportation systems including the new tram line of Antalya (Turkey) and the bus rapid transit line of Bhopal (India) were considered. The model was employ ...Более

Investigation of the effect of surface modification types on the tribological performance of cow bone powder reinforced polymer materials

Refik POLAT

This study investigated the production, characterization, mechanical and tribo-logical performance of surface-modified cow bone powder-reinforced composites. The primary goal was to increase the tribological and mechanical performance of sustainable and cleanly produced composite materials. It was determined that the surface-modified bone powder reinforcement increased the mechanical, thermal, and wear resistance of the polymer. The best surface modification method was determined as silanization. It reduced the friction coefficient and weight loss by 16.60 and 40.0, respectively, according to ...Более

Effect of Storage Period on Acid Value and Sensory Attributes of Puffed Wheat Grains 'Badyrak Vanilla' and 'Badyrak with Whey'

Asılbek KULMIRZAYEV | Anarseyit DEYDİEV

Puffed grains made from whole wheat, corn or rice grains are ready-to-eat breakfast cereals that do not require additional preparation. Two recipes for puffed grain coatings were developed in the previous studies. Sunflower oil was used in the coating, which may affect storage stability. Due to lipid hydrolysis, free fatty acids may be released, causing rancid off-flavour. The aim of this study was to determine the changes in the acid value of lipids and sensory attributes of sweet-coated puffed wheat grains 'Badyrak vanilla' (BV) and 'Badyrak with whey' (MC) depending on temperature during th ...Более
