Background: Intrauterine mixed infections are an important problem in cattle breeding. In this study, we aimed to determine the mixed bacteriological isolation rates from the uterus of cows with clinical metritis and to reveal the relationships between the bacteria that isolated together. Methods: For this purpose, sterile swabs were taken from 490 uterus obtained from cattle slaughtered due to infertility in three slaughterhouses and used them to perform microbiological tests. After evaluating the data, it was determined that the bacterial isolation rate from uterus with clinical metritis was ...Daha fazlası
Subclinical mastitis is a very important disease for dairy cattle farms. As a result of the deterioration of milk quality, it causes economic losses in enterprises. Milk samples of 180 cows were divided into five groups according to the somatic cell count. Some chemical properties and composition were measured in milk samples. The ratio of solid-non-fat, mineral matter, lactose, and protein decreased as the somatic cell count of the milk increased (P < 0.05). No statistical difference was observed between the fat content of milk and the level of somatic cell count (P > 0.05). Although specific ...Daha fazlası
The current study was undertaken to determine the 17-13 Estradiol (E2) and Progesterone (P4) levels in different milk products and some baby follow-on milk samples collected from retail markets in Turkiye. For this purpose, a total of 50 samples from 8 different product groups with different fat levels, production technologies, and production series were analyzed for natural P4 and E2 levels using a commercial ELISA kit. The highest E2 level was determined in UHT whole milk (3) (39.20 /- 6.73 pmol center dot L-1) while the lowest level was found in buttermilk (26.50 /- 1.85 pmol center dot L-1 ...Daha fazlası
The transition period is important in cows. This study was conducted to evaluate the effects of retained fetal membranes (RFM), clinical mastitis, and metritis on biochemical and selected mineral levels in Simmental cows. Cows were divided into five groups; cows with RFM (n=17), clinical mastitis (n=25), metritis (n=21) and postpartum healthy cows (n=21) within 21 days postpartum, and also prepartum healthy cows (n=20) in the 15±5 days before the expected parturition date. The activity of alkaline phosphatase (ALP) (85.18±15.83 U/L), aspartate transaminase (AST) (123.02±19.15 U/L), and gamma-g ...Daha fazlası
Electrical teat dipping (ETD) is a novel, patented method developed by the authors to control mastitis in dairy cows. Here we evaluate the efficacy of ETD in reducing the incidence of clinical mastitis and bulk tank milk somatic cell count (BTMSCC) on three dairy farms over 6 months. ETD was applied for morning and evening milking on three farms, while conventional teat dipping (CTD) was applied on the other three farms. The number of animals and quarters with clinical mastitis and monthly BTMSCC measurements were recorded. We found that the incidence of clinical mastitis was lower on farms us ...Daha fazlası

Immune compatibility between mare and foal is one of the important topics of reproductive immunology. At this point, although there are many studies on antibodies, there are not many publications on the relationship between the cytokine levels of mare, foal and milk and the effects of milk composition on this relationship. Here we investigate the relationship between Th1/Th2 cytokine balance and milk composition in Kyrgyz mares and foals. Samples were taken soon after the foal was born and on days 5, 10 and 20 after birth. Th1 (IFN-γ, IL-2, TNF-α) and Th2 (IL-4, IL-5, IL-10) cytokine levels in ...Daha fazlası
Background: Here we investigate whether the composition and some chemical properties of milk can correlate with bacterial species causing subclinical mastitis in cows. Methods: One hundred and eighty cows were used in the study. The California Mastitis Test (CMT) was applied to the selected cows. The cows were divided into four groups: cows with negative CMT (n45), the Escherichia coli (n45), Streptococcus agalactiae (n45) and Staphylococcus aureus (n45) groups.Result: Milk composition and some chemical properties were measured. The highest fat ratio (5.82 /- 0.34) was found in the Escherichia ...Daha fazlası
In recent years, the investigation of peptide and protein-structured hormones in biological fluids has become one of the most striking issues. The aim of this study was to determine irisin, asprosin, leptin, adiponectin, and IGF-1 levels in cows and calves after calving according to the mode of delivery. The study was carried out with 20 Holstein cows and 20 calves born from these cows. Blood samples were taken from cows and calves in all groups during birth, after drinking colostrum from calves and on the 15th, 30th, 45th and 60th days after birth in 10 ml tubes. The levels of the aforementio ...Daha fazlası
The regulation pattern of important enzymes in placental steroidogenesis and prostaglandin production in ewes with pregnancy toxemia is reviewed. The alterations of gene expressions after the administration of aglepristone (AG) and dexamethasone (DEX) are also discussed. Four healthy (CG) and 22 ewes with experimental pregnancy toxemia were included in the study. Ewes with pregnancy toxemia of group AG (n9) and group DEX (n9) were injected twice with 10 mg/kg of aglepristone and once with 5 ml dexamethasone respectively to induce parturition on 141 & PLUSMN;1,3 day of gestation; whereas health ...Daha fazlası
The therapeutic potential of Angelica ternata extract was tested against biofilm-associated fungi Candida albicans. Such an extract with a 1.896 ± 0.071 per 1 mL rutin content of flavonoids can reliably suppress the formation of biofilms of pathogenic yeast-like fungi up to 76.6. The herbal medicine has a significant effect on the initiation, adhesion, and development of biofilms. If the extract is added to a developed biofilm, it has a significant effect on the matrix. As a result, the “glue” between the cells is washed out and they are more easily washed away from the well of the microplate ...Daha fazlası
Teat canal stenosis is a significant factor that impedes milking and can lead to cows being unable to rear. Because the methods applied in the treatment of teat canal stenosis are mostly unsuccessful, animals with the disease are usually removed from breeding. In this case, it causes great damage to the livestock economy in the world. This study aimed to determine the efficacy of the veterinary argon plasma coagulation device, a newly developed treatment for teat canal stenosis. A two-stage study was conducted for this purpose. In the first stage, as a material, 30 teats from 30 cows of varyin ...Daha fazlası

The aim of the present study was to determine the relationship of immunoglobulins and cytokine levels in the milk of Kyrgyz mares during the last period of lactation. For this purpose, seven Kyrgyz mares were used. During the last week of lactation, milk samples were obtained from mares four times at intervals of two days. Physicochemical tests were performed on all collected milk samples, and pH, fat, ash, titratable acidity, and dry matter were measured. Interferon-gamma (IFN-γ), interleukin-2 (IL-2), tumour necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α), and immunoglobulin G (IgG) levels were determined usi ...Daha fazlası
